Cask at Exeter Arms, Derby Pours an amber orange with a small white head. Nose is vaguely nutty. In the mouth there is sweetness of toffee and caramel plus fruityness of orange and redcurrants. Oranges and hops in the finish. Pleasant but no more.

Cask at Exeter Arms, Derby Blackcurrant, liquorice and malts in the nose. Pours almost black with a small cream head. In the mouth there is liquorice, plus cherries and raspberries, but is a bit sharp on the tongue. Sharpness persists in the finish, together with liquorice. Nice, but not a world-beater.

Cask at the Wheel Inn, Holbrook. Amber broen, ckear with a bit of off-white head and a good bit of lacing. Toffee, caramel, biscuity malt, a touch of caraway in the aroma. Sweet and slightly spicy taste, leading to just a suggestion of bitterness in the finish. Decent little bitter.

Cask @ Cooper's Tavern, Burton-on-Trent. Pours a clear gold, white froth atop. Fruity nose. Taste is lightly fruity, balanced golden ale, moderately sweet with gentle malt with a light bitterness. Simplistic but satisfying enough.

Cask at Mad Squirrel, in the presence of local CAMRA legend Noj. Lightly hazed gold with a thin white head and a light fizz. Light citrus, pine and grass. Dryish with a mild bitterness. Drinkable, but rather dull - but Noj made it more interesting than it deserved. Cheers Noj!
