[Cask at GBBF 2003] A clear nutbrown beer with a small bubbly head. The aroma is very faintly malty. The flavor is very nicely hoppy - a lot of aroma hop in the flavor. It ends on a dry bitterness. A nice bitter - reminds me of an IPA.

Re-rate: 7 3 7 3 12 Red chestnut, Low head. Light melonoidin and caramelized fruit nose. Dry spices, fermented citruspeel notes, berry aftertaste. Sparkly mellow Pleasant Old rating: 5 4 6 3 9 Somewhat neutral aroma. Brown amber, low head. Sweet honeyish tastes dominate. Not strong in any means, no matter what the bottle says - weakish body.

Cask, Wenlock Arms. Golden-amber. Thin head. Very fruity aroma with a light minerally character. Fruity, refreshing taste with good caramel notes. Light, refreshing with late acidity.

Deep amber-brown; deeply chewy, sweet, with a touch of dryness in the finish. I found toffee, sweet cherries, roses, brown sugar and an insistent earthiness.

This brew is known either as Suffolk Strong or Adnams Extra Ale, depending on whether it is on cask or bottle. It is dry, hoppy, and woody. An excellent example of English pale ale.

Canned:
Pours pale, hazy brown. The small-ish head looks like a thick lid. Fruity, leafy aroma with notes of salty liquorice. Fruity flavour with earthy notes. Long bitterness with notes of chalk and salty liquorice. A very good canned ale!
