Cask @ Mr Foley's, Leeds. Near black with an off-white creamy head. Has roasted malts in aroma and taste, with its strength very evident in the latter.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Somewhere between dark gold and tawny brown. Flat with a thin uneven film of loose white head. Smells of sweet biscuity malt, some iced tea tannins, ripe pear, a little bit of spruce. Rounded bittersweet taste with a sweetness of the malt lying on the tongue through to the long finish. Decent little beer, although there isn't a whole lot to it.

Handpull cask at the Sheffield Tap. Light sienna brown, murky. A small layer of beige head. Hazelnut, biscuit spread, lightly buttered toast on the aroma. Sweet, nutty initial taste is supplanted by bittering hop notes. Long finish with almonds, oak and sarsaparilla. It doesn't really hold together all that well.
