Bottle. Clear and light yellow color with a fizzy white head, mostly diminishing. Moderate hopped, floral notes. Lively carbonation.

Pours deep mahogany into a stem glass. Head quickly subsides to skim rim. Fruity roasted malt aromas. Dry and crisp with front to back sweet sticky smoked malt. Dry and sticky? Yep. Medium lasting prune finish.

Bottle. Different label than above. Golden yellow beer with an off-white head. Mineral, earth aroma. Light malt, earth, mineral flavor and some breadiness. Very clean and drinkable. Maltier than many lagers. Not bad.

Bottle 0,5l at The St Albans Beer Festival 29 Sep 06. Yellowish coloured. A large creamy head. Very sweet - all the way.

500ml bottle shared with CatweazleTroms and Finn. Straw yellow body under a moderate, creamy foam. The foundation lies on sweet fruity hops with a good touch of ripe and, again, sweet banana. Far too much sweetness for my taste. Should have picked a more decent beer celebrating my 500 rating... (from the foreign beer list at The St Albans BF, 29.09.2006).

Label different than pictured. Pours yellow gold into a shaker. Bright white micro head leaves slight lacing as it slowly recedes. Bread, grass and hay aromas. Slightly sweet and light bodied. Lasting bitter finish.

Bottle. Small head with short duration. Color is clear brown. Aroma is caramel and roast malt but not very strong. Taste is caramel and roast malt as well. A bit more dull than other German dunkels.

Beautiful dark red-brown beer with a purple shine; smallish dark yellow creamy head, fast gone. Bready, molasses, bit of licorice, cassis and plums in the nose. Bitterish, very roasted taste upon a truckload of mixed malts (chocolate/roasted/pale/Münich,...) bit metallic ending. Titillating, CO² impression MF, with medium to well-bodied, finish is, again, empty. Nose promises a lot, but the finish is really empty. I’m afraid this has been a way more complex beer, once. At least, it’s not too sweet.

Pour is dark brown with a minimal head that dissipates without leaving much evidence behind. Aromas are roasty, a little smokey/peaty and fruity. The first thing that hit me is that this has a much thicker mouthfeel than I expected. Almost syrupy. Flavor is also fruitier than I thought... when I first opened the bottle the aroma was almost entirely of dried fruit, but after a minute or so it became much more dark malt based... with the prune-like scents taking the backseat. I’m also picking up a slight hint of molasses and a bit of sweet stickiness. Well blended and nicely covers the 7.5% ABV...
