Description

Clear brown color, short brown head. Aroma of caramel malts, bit metallic. Sweet caramel malty taste. Sticky palate. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dunkel on 07 Jun 2019 at 22:06 - Score: 8. Prima dunkel

Dark brown in colour, a small amount of ruby highlights are noticeable however. A unattractive off-white SUPER-large bubbled head tops the beer and fades fast. Aroma of strong raisins, caramel, soy sauce, grapes, malt and alcohol. Medium to Full-bodied; Chewy mouthful with a bunch of sweetness. Soon after the sugars hit the palate, some of the meatiness of the soy sauce becomes evident and then fades to a metallic maltiness. Aftertaste shows a bunch of the bittering characteristics of this one, and hardly any of the sweetness. Overall, this one changes over the 'sip lifecycle', but not too pleasant throughout! I bought this 33 cL bottle from Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 16-December-2003.

Crystal clear golden colour with tons of small bubbles rising from the bottom and a thin white head. Aroma of hops, metal, caster sugar, grapefruit and some other fruits. Light-bodied; Crisp banana/bubble gum flavours roaming the palate with some citrus twang followed by a subtle hoppiness. Mild up front, then actually fading into more of a nice flavour! Aftertaste is fairly clean, but some malt is noticeable and refreshing. Overall, this one started off a bit bad, but quickly made some way, and is very respectable fro the style! I bought this twelve ounce bottle from Beers of the World (with a vastly different label) in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 12-December-2003.

Golden color. Nice malty and hoppy aroma, but average flavor and too sweet lager.

Bam! This beer is huge - dark, dark brown with intense carbonation - nose full of molassas, brown sugar and dates - flavor contains the same, with hints of espresso and cookie dough - this beer straight-up kicks ass - if you don’t like it, there is clearly something wrong with you.

Bottled. Cloudy deep orange. Appley nose, clean fizzy mouthfeel, yeasty finish. Too clean, just like Erdinger, but thankfully not that sweet.

Quite obvious score with a low StdDev, which i am going to improve. Because that is what it is worth, a 3.1. Very cloudy golden orange color, short head. Very one-way spicy wheat aroma. Quite standard german wheat taste, but not refreshing and not complex. Nothing special.

(Bottle). Beautiful chestnut colour, very good head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruits, oak and roasted malts, initially weak but improves as the beer warms up. Roasted malts and some caramel in the flavour, still a bit thin mouthfeel. Relatively short aftertaste without much bite. A decent Munich dunkel, but I did like the Neumarkter Lammsbräu better!
