About
1328 wurde die Brauerei erstmals namentlich genannt. In 1803 mussten im Rahmen der Säkularisation die Mönche das Kloster verlassen und es wurde aufgelöst. Nur die Klosterbrauerei wurde anfänglich unter staatlicher und später unter privater Führung weitergeführt.

1829 erwarben Anton und Therese Wagner, eine Brauerfamilie aus Attaching bei Freising, die Sudstätte. Seitdem ist die Brauerei eine bürgerliche Privatbrauerei in Familienbesitz. Therese Wagner erwarb in 1857 einen Lagerkeller an der Landsberger Straße. Auf dieses Gelände wurden später die gesamten Produktionsanlagen verlegt. Edith Haberland-Wagner, die letzte Verwandte mit dem Nachnamen Wagner und Haupteigentümerin der Brauerei, vermacht in 1996 ihre Anteile der von ihr gegründeten Edith-Haberland-Wagner-Stiftung. Nun hält die Stiftung etwas über 50 Prozent der Augustiner Brauerei.

Bottle: Pale golden, mid-sized white head; mainly malty nose with bready and caramel notes, also traces of cardboard; sweetish malty beginning, slightly sweetish-malty taste, soft bitter-sweet ending; not a great one, but soft and quite well rounded......A better Oktoberfest Bier.

Good looking Doppelbock, dark brown that raises a thick head of toffee that coats the glass with lace as it slowly eases back. Rich aroma of dark caramel and raisins. Could be a bit heavier bodied, but overall this is a decent Doppel.

Bottle. Weak fruity/citric aroma. Pale yellow colour, nice creamy semi-stable white head. Flavour is very mild with a hint of hop aroma and low bitterness. The mouthfeel is nice, but this beer is simply too tasteless and anonymous.

Bottled at RBESG. Mid brown. Sweet, roasty and full bodied. Warming with generous malt flavours and soft moutfheel. Some butterscotch and coffee, salty finish. Very tasty!

Bottled. Palke golden colour with big white fdoamy head. Alcohol and asweet malt in aroma. Malty hoppy flavour with hints of vegetables. Sweet aftertaste.

(Bottle 50 cl) Dark, clear amber colour with a beige head. Lots of caramel in the nose. Surprisingly light body considering the alcohol. Distinct notes of roasted malt and caramel. Very easygoing Doppelbock. 120805

(bottle) Clear golden colour with a medium fluffy white head. Aroma of grainy malts, grassy hops and traces of citrus fruits. Slight sweet flavour, malty start with a fruity, even sour-salty tone and a soft bitter light hoppy finish. Clean, smooth but all in all not very spectacular.

Bottle. Rich molasses malt aroma - mild tannins. A dark brown / blood red color with negligible head. Thick molasses malt flavor - moderate hops bitterness and astrigency. Very nice body. This is a nice easy drinking doppelbock but may not be strong enough for some.
