Description
Harvey's is the oldest independent Brewery in Sussex. Founded by John Harvey in 1790 it still remains a privately owned family business, with the eighth generation currently working there. We pride ourselves on the craft of our brewing, environmental credentials, local distribution, local charitable activities and loyal staff. Widely known for our Best Bitter, our beers and pubs can be found in and around the South East. As a Regional Brewer we tend not distribute further than 60 miles from the brewery premises, however our beers can be purchased via our online shop shop.harveys.org.uk and at our Brewery Shop in Lewes. Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass dark brown, nice head. Mild malty roasty aroma. Starts mild, a bit washy, but still with some fine malty roasty notes. Some caramel, some woody hints, mild bitterness. Not bad!

Huge thanks to Erzengel for that one! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass deep golden, small head. Mild malty aroma. Starts mild, malty, shy bitterness. Not as moldy as other low alcohol beers. Finish a bit washy, but still quite drinkable.

Draught at Royal Oak, Borough. Half-pint shared with Finn. Looks good in the glass with a bright late straw coloured body, fair white head and lacing. Inviting smell of leafy hops and pale malts. Well mixed taste of noble hops, bread, and grassy bites. Mild malt-fruity end. Fine version of the style. (London, 29.09.2023).

Cask ale, half-pint shared with Finn at Royal Oak, Borough. Clear, warm golden body. Film-type layer leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Moderate aromas of pale malty sweetness and ripe fruits. Quite fine blended taste of earthy malts, herbal hops, and a citric support. Moments of malt-fruity bitterness to the ending. Clean mouthfeel. Like it. (London, 29.09.2023).

Poured from 275mL bottle (8.1% abv - fiulijnator cellar - vintage 2008). Hazy orangey brown with no head. Dark fruity malts, too old, no carbonation, but it's better than some of the local barley wines...
