Harvey's is the oldest independent Brewery in Sussex. Founded by John Harvey in 1790 it still remains a privately owned family business, with the eighth generation currently working there. We pride ourselves on the craft of our brewing, environmental credentials, local distribution, local charitable activities and loyal staff. Widely known for our Best Bitter, our beers and pubs can be found in and around the South East. As a Regional Brewer we tend not distribute further than 60 miles from the brewery premises, however our beers can be purchased via our online shop shop.harveys.org.uk and at our Brewery Shop in Lewes. Draft at The Lamb, Eastbourne. Poured a clear yellow golden colour with a lasting frothy white head and plenty of bubbles. The aroma is grainy, light citrus fruits. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a crisp, somewhat light, juicy lemon citrus, light mineral, dry hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation. Kinda liked this.

The flavour is moderate bitter, with a crisp, someone light, herbal, yeasty, light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation.

Cask at The Lamb, Eastbourne. Poured a clear reddish brown colour with a short-lived frothy off-white head. The aroma is nutty, roasty. The flavour is light liquorice bitter, with a light, somewhat watery, nutty, herbal, light liquorice bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask, 1/3 pint on a sample tray. Crystal clear amber-gold body, covering white head, shattered lacing. Inviting citrus aromas. Rather smooth and clear taste of lemon and grapefruits mixed with mid-sweet malts. Satisfying bitterness to the finish. Like it. (Lewes, 27.08.2026).

Cask at The Kingston CAMRA Beer & Cider Festival, Kingston upon Thames. An amber/brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Rich, sweet, fruity, malty, caramel action. Incredibly sweet and syrupy. Expected something better from Harvey's. I really struggled to finish this one.

Clear chestnut pour with a small white head. Aromas of (roasted) malt, nuts, dried fruits/berries. Taste is roasted malt, caramel, a hint of oak - could be a bit bolder, even for an AF.

Sample from bottle at Carnivale Brettanomyces during lecture about British yeast. Didn't take many notes, just enjoyed good beers and good company. What I do remember: Fruity, dense, earthy, molasses, floral hop, subtle Brett. Great.
