Description
Based in the heart of Stockport for almost two centuries, and owning around 260 tenanted and managed pubs, inns and hotels across the North West, ‘Robinsons’ is one of oldest and most respected names in British brewing history.
Robinsons took over Hartleys brewery in 1982, closing down the Ulverston plant in 1994 and transferring the Hartley brands to the Unicorn brewery. Robinsons bought the rights to the Ward brands in 2006 but subsequently sold some of those brands to Maxim Beer Co.

Cask handpull at Phoenix, Canterbury. Gold with thick lasting white head. Robinson’s distinctive yeast aroma, some orangey citrus, dusty hop finish. Never a fan of Robinson’s. Orange citrus finish is tasty. Thin malts in mouth. Nothing wrong with it, just a bit dull. Finish is good though.

Big beige head. Deep dark red body. Soft, sweetish licorice aroma, very faint. Very sweet, rounded, milky toffee taste with notes of pepper, tobacco, and licorice. Some alcohol heat is noticeable. Bitter tobacco aftertaste. It’s OK, but should have had much more flavour than this. A bit disappointing. (0.33l bottle from Alko.)
