About
Based in the heart of Stockport for almost two centuries, and owning around 260 tenanted and managed pubs, inns and hotels across the North West, ‘Robinsons’ is one of oldest and most respected names in British brewing history.

Robinsons took over Hartleys brewery in 1982, closing down the Ulverston plant in 1994 and transferring the Hartley brands to the Unicorn brewery. Robinsons bought the rights to the Ward brands in 2006 but subsequently sold some of those brands to Maxim Beer Co.

Bottle at Goblet ZG, shared with Veceo. Golden-yellow body, tiny white head. Oxidized, rice-like aroma, wheat malt notes. Kinda smells like a tropical lager. Lean, dry taste, rice and light herbal bitternesss, sweet lean maltiness, light cardboard - yet fresh-tasting. Messy, interesting. Don't know what to think of it.

Bottle from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours a golden/amber colour with a thin soapy looking white head. Very faint fruity aromas. Taste has peppery spice, some toffee and caramel. Also biscuity with a gentle but lasting earthy hop bitterness finish. No flashy flavours but a Well made decent English Beer.

Bottle from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours clear golden with a thin soapy looking white head. Faint aromas of caramel, toffee and biscuits. Taste has some more toffee and caramel, some peppery spice and orange sherbet. Thinnish body, light spritzy palate and smooth oily mouthfeel. Decent enough but also a tad boring.

Bottle from my local off-licence ‘Wine Rack’. Pours a clear golden colour with a medium sized creamy white head. Aromas of caramel, biscuits and peppery spice with light notes of citrus and floral. Taste is again very similar to the aroma with the same notes, more caramel and biscuits, lots of peppery spice and more citrus lemon and a touch more floral coming through. Also some herbal notes. Malty, low bitterness and dry sweetish finish. Thin to medium body, low carbonation and smooth oily mouthfeel. Decent Blonde Ale
