Description
The brewery Slaghmuylder was founded in 1860 by Emmanuel Slaghmuylder. Around the turn of the century his son Ernest took over the company. He married Marie Van Roy, daughter of a brewer family of Wieze. His three sons opened a new brewery in 1926 which could start immediately with the new brewing process for lager beer. During the war of 1940-1945 brewing restarted for high-fermentation ales. It is only in1958 that the brewery started again with the production of low-fermentation beers. In the mid sixties the three brothers were succeeded by their sons. From 1979 on, the three nephews started brewing the Witkap Pater beers on request of brewery "De Drie Linden" from Brasschaat. In 1981 the Witkap Pater brand was officially taken over by Slaghmuylder. Beginning of theeighties the brewery was equipped with separate fermentation and layering cellars for both high and low fermentation beers. Brewery Slaghmuylder remains a unique family company that builds on a rich tradition.

Pours cloudy dark amber with rocky ivory head. Aroma is low: bread, unripe white fruits. Taste starts a little sweet. Sour and bitter are well balanced. Medium body. Abrupt finish reminiscent of orange blossom.

33cl bottle. As Ambiorix Bruin. Poured brown color, murky, dense white head. Floral hops, caramelly aroma, green tea notes. Really pleasant. Flavor has tea, caramel, sugars, floral notes. Surprisingly thin for the abv. High drinkability, I like this one, even if dubbel is not a style I prefer.

Bottle @ The Unholy Trinity Meets Again, SΓΈnderborg. Pours hazy amber with some brown sediment and airy white head. Clear aroma of hops, citrus and flowers, with notes of yeast and malt. Bitter, hoppy flavour with pronounced citric and malty notes and touches yeast and flower. Bitter aftertaste with citric touches. Well-balanced and enjoyable. Decent.
