Description
The brewery Slaghmuylder was founded in 1860 by Emmanuel Slaghmuylder. Around the turn of the century his son Ernest took over the company. He married Marie Van Roy, daughter of a brewer family of Wieze. His three sons opened a new brewery in 1926 which could start immediately with the new brewing process for lager beer. During the war of 1940-1945 brewing restarted for high-fermentation ales. It is only in1958 that the brewery started again with the production of low-fermentation beers. In the mid sixties the three brothers were succeeded by their sons. From 1979 on, the three nephews started brewing the Witkap Pater beers on request of brewery "De Drie Linden" from Brasschaat. In 1981 the Witkap Pater brand was officially taken over by Slaghmuylder. Beginning of theeighties the brewery was equipped with separate fermentation and layering cellars for both high and low fermentation beers. Brewery Slaghmuylder remains a unique family company that builds on a rich tradition.

Bottle, as Witkap Pater Stimulo. At first it seems like it’s gonna volcano out of the bottle, but only a small foam cap settled at the top of the bottle. When poured, it forms a massive, lasting, dense white head, with a very lively carbonation in the hazy, orange-golden body. The first aroma to escape the glass is banana. Slightly artificial maybe, and then comes lemon, coriander, pale malt, hints of yeast and a sugary impression. A bit weak aroma I think, but sure nice. Citrusy flavor with a good dash of coriander and peppery hops. Pale malt and alcohol in the background. Effervescent, dry and warm on the palate, with a lasting, citrusy, bitter finish with a coriander touch. A really refreshing beer, could easily down a few of these. (080829)

Bottle. A golden beer with lots of floaties and a dense white head leaving lacings. Pale malt, grains, some spicy coriander, citrus and fruit in the aroma. The flavor has pale malt, citrus, both lime and clementine, coriander and a apple and pear fruityness. Quite dry, especially in the finish, which is fruity and quite bitter, with pale malt and coriander. Pleasantly dry and fruity beer with pale malts in a nice blend. One to drink again later on. Bottled. Hazy pale yellow, brief airy head. Sulphury aroma with massive amounts of burnt rubber. Sweet, thin and metallic. The sulphury flavour of burning plastic reaches extreme levels, and lasts forever. Absolutely undrinkable.
