Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een donkerbruin bier met een volle beige schuim. Het heeft een fruitige geur van framboos en chocolade. De smaak is fruitig, frambozen, chocolade en wat wrang in de afdronk.

Bottle from Geers. Hazy yellow, small, frothy, white head. Aroma of honey, ripe apricot, banana peel, yellow apple, yellow jam, wheat, white bread. Taste has sweet apricot, apple & banana in a honey-bready body, sourish wheat underneath & a soft spicy bitterness; ending peppery hoppy with spicy yeast, honey & apricot, some warming gin-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Nice enough at the table, not really for 'degustation'.

Hazy yellow colour, white creamy foam. Lots of carbonation. Nose of malts, a bit grainy, some sweet banana notes, citrus, some honey. Taste is medium bitter, a bit metallic, grainy. Not very well balanced and too much carbonation.

Clear pale blond beer, small dense creamy off-white head, stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, grains, hay, cow fodder, fruity, ripe pears, some peaches. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter, pretty metallic, little fruity, hint of citrus, more bitterness. Aftertaste: very bitter, some hay, grapefruit touch, bit chemical, meh. Not very nice.

33cl bottle at home (17 IX 2020), as Brouwerij Broers Sour Session IPA. A light sour session ale - indian pale ale as it is the brewer's intention - with 15 IBU, 8 EBC, 7,3 PLATO with 3% AVB. A summer session brew from my home region (as always, I was one of the first to sip this experiment) which colours golden amber with a very vivid body, and a frothy slowly diminishing white head. A beautiful eye-catcher with a ditto nose. Omnipresent yet restrained hop notes, very floral and slighty herbs which make me think of peaches, mandarine oranges and perhaps some plums. There is a sweetness in the flavours as well. The mouthfeel is light bodied for sure, with a sparkling soda appearance, and has neutral malt notes together with a gingerlike sour tongue. A hoppy ending makes up for a nice bitter finish. The overal taste has passiflora fruits, even banana leaves, and a nice sweet-bitter balance. Too bad this is not a real powerhouse: even within the session ale tradition, one can find better executions. The sour touch, which is quite intrusive, can seem bold at first and could be indeed a that awkward. But it has natural lemon hints which make up for a neat and tidy whole. This approach is a brave and experimental for sure, when overviewing the dull Flemish brewscape, and it has nothing tedious. This sour session ale (or indian pale ale for that matter) has some interesting features, but the faint body and narrow range of the hops flavours does not tilt this summer beer to a higher level. Faint body, decent execution and non-traditional beer style are the delineation words to go.

Bottle from Geers. Pours hazy black with a quickly thinning, dark beige head. Aroma of toast, dark chocolate nibs, coffee roast, dark fudge, prune, tobacco, roasted nuts. Taste has sweet fudge & butterscotch, quickly dominated by dark chooclate & nuts; roasted middle has coffee & toast, ending dry & earthy hoppy with subtle lactose suddenly popping up, hints of fudge, coffee & tobacco in balance. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Not that creamy for a Milk Stout at already 7%, the butterscotch is only subtly present but that's okay. Good but could have been better I think.

Clear pale blond to orange beer, small creamy off-white head, unstable, falls down quickly. Aroma: yeasty, bit fruity, some citrus, ripe tropical fruits. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sour start, citrus notes, fruity, yeasty, some coriander, soft bitterness. Aftertaste: some banana, yeast, bit sourish, hint of lemon, not very hoppy in the flavour...

Clear dark brown beer, practically no head, dissipates immediately, lots of junk floating on top of the beer, looks pretty dirty. Aroma: nice roast up front, malty, dark chocolate, some coffee, no sweet impressions though. Where’s the lactose? MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: good roast, bit sourish, caramel notes, slightly sweet, dark chocolate, alcohol. Aftertaste: more of an acidic touch, lots of chocolate, nice roast, soft sweetness, caramel, slightly metallic, nice bitter finish.

Clear orange blond beer, small creamy off-white head, falls down quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: sourish, pretty fishy, weird, yeast notes. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet, malty, grains, soft bitterness, bit oxidized, spicy notes, bit herbal. Aftertaste: slightly sourish, malty, grains, somewhat sweet, ripe banana, butter biscuits, soft bitterness, more banana peel. Not my cup of tea.
