I expected more of an herbal, saison like beer. This isn’t really like that, and I am disappointed in it for the price I paid, but it is a little different and not bad at all. This is my first sahti. Light aroma, just a little malt and a hint of fruit. Orange beer with almost no carbonation. Surprisingly sweet aroma without the herbal qualities I expected. There are some dry herbs toward the end but I can’t perceive any juniper. Dry finish with raw weeds.

[swing-top bottle] Brown, muddy colour. Small, bubbly head. Malty, yeasty aroma with notes of cocoa powder and bubblegum. Complex flavour of malt, rye bread, cocoa, yeast, juniper, smoke, wood and fresh mushroms. Tastes like a walk in the deep Finnish woods! A little bit of alcohol shows up in the finish.

Bottled. It pours almost hazy, golden brown with a small beige head. Caramel, roastiness and some sourness in the aroma. The flavor has caramel and some sourness. Thin to medium body with a little bit of astringency. Short finish, except for some lasting sourness. Not my cup of tea. (070302)

33 cl bottle, no freshness dating. I was going to compare this to the Rogue Juniper Pale Ale I had last night, but they really are two different beers. This one pours out a bit murky brown with only a trace of a head. Somewhat oxidized malt smell suggests this is an old bottle. Taste has only the slightest hint of spiciness, but more a generic Juicy-Fruitiness. There is a bit of fruit sourness suggesting the juniper almost completely replaces any hops, per style. Light body disguises its abv. Interesting to try. Perhaps this should be classified as an "old ale,"
