Re-rating: Samplet from a 5 liter plastic container at Brewery Helsinki brewpub. Quite special, and a bit difficult to rate fair. Dark brown body with no head. Aroma has malt, bread, berries and an impression of forest. Flavor is relatively smooth malty, yeast, liquorice, hint of juniper and somewhat fruity. Almost no bitterness. Balanced in body and aftertaste in same style as main flavors. OK I guess, but not a favorite.

Bottled @ EBF 2008. Slightly hazy reddish orange body with a thin white head. Aroma is yeast, bread and a bit spicy. Flavor is fruity, some malt, herbs and notes of liquorices. A bit thin body. This was my first Sahti, and I was well prepared and looking forward to this. Maybe the expectations where to high. I was a bit disappointed, for me this was rather similar to a lot of average home brews and actually rather ordinary.

Keg at Black Door, Helsinki in early 2008. Pale yellowish golden colour with basically no head. Aroma is sour apples along with some hints of wood and also fresh apples. Flavour is sweet apples meeting sour apples along with some earthyness. Refreshing and semi dry palate.

One reviewer said this one tasted like a mixed drink," he said. Bright orange, devoid of bubbles, aroma of grass and cranberries. Flavor of butterscotch. Might work if you added vodka....

Bottle at the European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. A clear, golden beer with a minimal off-white head. Grainy nose with some caramel, notes of cooked vegetables and a little fruityness and yeast. Grainy, caramel flavor with some fruit and a little bitterness. Thin body. Short grainy finish. A boring beer, and not very good either. (080912)

On tap at the European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Serves an almost clear, golden body under an off-white head. Sweetish, spiced nose with citrus, pine and something more reminiscent of spruce than juniper. Spiced, sweet flavor with caramel and a citrusy fruityness. Quite thin body, but all in all a nice brew. Would like to have more. (080912)

Pours hazy amber, off-white head. Aroma is fruity. Taste, fruity, clearly of berries. Some nice touch of malts(caramel), leaving a nice sweet fruity after taste. Nothing special, but still very drinkable.
