This is...a stout? Something must be wrong here. This stuff is fizzy and lightly hazy, golden colored. I guess that's a style? Who knew? Anyway, I wasn't too impressed.

16 oz can. Aroma is floral, lemony, funky. Pours hazy golden with a one finger bone-white head that falls into a ring and skiff of foam after a minute. Taste is lightly tart, bitter and sweet with floral hop and lightly funky flavors. Mouthfeel is velvety but almost watery. My first impression was that it was a very tame beer, bordering on mediocrity. As it warms up in the glass, its complexities reveal themselves, with the funky Belgian influences and modern hoppping with its accompanying bitterness becoming more prominent. I still think they could have gone more extreme with the souring and the hopping, but they were probably going for something more subtle here, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Sometimes subtlety can be more interesting than a sledgehammer of flavor attacking the palate.

16oz can pours a clear gold with some clumpy white head. Nose has everything it promises. Belgian tripel, includes some dried tropicals, white chocolate, light spice. Flavor amps the cocoa and the sugar, big sugar cookie vibes or Otis Spunkmeyer. Booze. Belgian character fades. Full and sticky. Should have been a train wreck and wasn't.

Draught @ Masterdam Ale House, Manhattan NYC (Apr 2025). Clear amber-gold with a very small frothy off-white head, caramel malt aroma, low carbonation, initially sweet caramel malt taste that goes medium bitter, toffee, dried fruits, alcohol undertones, smooth body, long finish. Very smooth.

Can from the packie enjoyed at home.
Inky black with a frothy tan head that persists. Rich chocolate roast and peanuts offset with some earthy spicy hops. Sweet and sticky sipper

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours dark translucent gold with a moderate white head that left quickly. Aroma of malt suggesting a Tripel, and some coffee. Med plus body. Surprising dry. Moderately bitter. There's a bit of that Belgian yeast/spice thing. Definitely coffee. A light greasiness. Very different "thing".
