16oz can-pours a cascading tan head and black with red color. Aroma is molasses/roasty/coffee-dark malt, secondary spice hops. Taste is molasses/roasty/coffee-dark malt, secondary spice/earthy hops with some bite.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is some dull pale malts with maybe some honey. Flavor is again a average pale malt with some dry chalk. I can’t see how some have rated this 4 and above. I got no candi sugar or Belgian yeast funk. This is a crappy blonde ale at best.

Gravity firkin cask @ the Bourgeois Pig in Lawrence. Shaker comes to me with a small tan head and a black body. The head fades fast bit still covers the surface. Aroma is sweet chocolate with faint roast. There is a little bit of a fecal aspect. Some tropical fruit hops coming through. The mouthfeel is typical for a cask with a flatter body that feels thinner without the carbonation. Flavor is bitter black patenet malts with some creamy chocolate sweetness. Still a little fecal in there and sweetness that comes of adjunct-like. Thin and watery flavor throughout I like the regular version with its carbonation and not weird adjunct aspects.

Shaker pint from a firkin cask at the Old Chicago. First pours off the cask come with a nice foamy head. Color is messy light brown with a rainbow of other colors from the adjuncts. Aroma is weird with lots of raspberry that comes off as syrup. Also some zingy citrus from the orange peel. Not much in the way of the actual base beer and no coco nibs. The flavor is akin to blending some soda (or pop as the call it out here) with some beer. The orange peel comes off as sunnier and the raspberries make it like some fruit punch. Interesting experience but I did not even finish my shaker.

Shaker pint from a firkin cask at the Old Chicago in Overland Park, Kansas. Pour is a very hazy brown, with light ruby red highlights. The head is a smallish light tan. Quite cold to the touch, though I think that’s the iced glass rather than the beer. Aroma is nutty malt, along with sweet raspberry. The fruit is syrupy smelling, but still natural. Taste is the raspberry syrup sweet mixed with nutty malt, finishing with sweet dry cocoa chocolate. Palate is medium, nice soft natural carbonation, with a sweet fruit finish, and then dries out with the cocoa. Nice.

Can from River City Cellars, Richmond. Hazy amber with a slight white head. Sweetish malt aroma, with marmalade and a citrus hop aroma. Flavour of biscuit malts, more citrus fruit and a dry, slightly resinous finish. Good.

Location: 16 oz can from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 11/14/11

Aroma: The nose is rather hoppy, with some nice pine, floral, bread, and citrus notes to it
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear caramel-brown color with a big, thick, foamy off-white head
Flavor: Tastes kind of one-dimensional bitter with lots of resin, floral, and citrus, light malt backing
Palate: The body is medium-full, it is a little sticky and fairly creamy on the mouth, with a lengthy, dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a bitter Bitter. It really isn't a typical British style ESB, but more of an amped up American-style take that doesn't feel on style, maybe closer to an IPA then an ESB. Still an interesting beer though. It is the best thing I've tried from Tallgrass thus far, and I think I'll drink it again.

This is a solid sweet stout. Moderate roast, with some coffee and chocolate, and well done lacto quality. Very smooth palate.

Yellow color. Decent carbonation and some haze. Light hop aroma and flavor, mild bitterness. Not a lot going on here; their ESB has much better hop character.

Not bad. Aroma has yeast and hops. Flavor starts sweet, but ends with herbal, hopped dryness. Some clove flavor. LDark yellow color.
