Established in 1996
In 1996, our first 25 barrel batch was brewed on a Brick Kettle Brewing System from England at our Battle Creek, MI location. Fast-forward – today every batch is produced in our 50 barrel American-made brewhouse at our Kalamazoo Riverfront Brewery, Pub and Garden. Our 20th Anniversary in 2016 ushered in a new era of brewing possibilities with the installation of two new 100bbl closed fermentation tanks giving us the ability to use new yeast strains while we continue to brew classic Arcadia Ales using our distinctive, proprietary yeast strain in our traditional, open fermenters. The ability to brew with new yeast strains opens up the Arcadia Brewing Company portfolio of offerings, allowing our brewers to be creative in ways that were not previously accessible and broadening the scope of beers produced. With these changes, we still keep our promise to use only the finest domestic and English malted barley, along with the highest quality hops available from the Pacific Northwest and Michigan.
Admin Note: Formerly named Arcadia Brewing Co. In the spring of 2014, Arcadia completed a new production facility in Kalamazoo, MI. The Battle Creek facility closed in 2016. The company ceased all operations in September 2019.
In June 2020, the Superfluid Supply Co. division of Short's Brewing announced its purchase of Arcadia's beer brands and intellectual property. Whitsun Ale was the first release with plans to resurrect other recipes in the future as well.

Deep burgundy pour, with a medium-sized ring of lace - rather spicy, almost peppery aroma, with loads of caramel, vanilla, and a slight hint of rum - somewhat thin-bodied for the style, but a non-cloying sweetness and rather strong spice character almost make up for this - hints of plum and black cherry - a mild woody/vanilla/bourbon flavor develops near the end, but is short-lived - this stuff would be great if it had more body, but as it is, it’s just "good."

Draught - these beers are everywhere in NY now; every single beer bar has at least one on tap - anyway, this had a decent look out of the tap; dark brown, nearly opaque, with a thick, creamy head - smelled of black and chocolate malts, with a hint of vanilla and cream - rather smooth mouthfeel, although a tad bit thin - semi-roasty, with a kind of sharp bitterness near the end for the style - moderate sweetness, with some cream and coffee notes - rather uninteresting, but drinkable.

[re-rate - originally a 3.7 - after having another bottle, this beer’s flaws are much more apparent - cloying sweetness - sticky, vanilla extract flavors - long, overly sweet finish - that smoke/peat quality never breaks through enough to temper the sweetness]Deep amber with a purple tint - aroma of plum, fig, peat and caramel - slight peat/scotch hints in the flavor - plum, chocolate, caramel, and a light roasted nut flavor - some alcohol presence, but nothing overpowering - finishes with slight floral notes - a decent scotch ale, and quite underrated.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a hazy amber golden with a gigantic, frothy, shaving foam style head with good retention. Very citrusy aroma. Medium-bodied, fairly sweet with very fruity - citrus and peach - notes. Dry, bitter finish. 211006

Ruddy reddish-brown body, thin off-white head. Aroma of burnt sweet caramel, candy corn, and red licorice. Surprisingly light, cerealy body, with burnt caramels, brown sugar, toast, a touch of candy corn, and grassy hops defining the palate. Becomes a bit medicinal or tea-like after a few sips. Light palate, surprisingly light alcohol. Lacks substance.

Bottle pours a clear medium orange/amber with a huge foamy white head. Leaft clumps of merange likelacing. Aroma is spicy, peppery and a bit cardboardy. Flavor is a mostly malts. Woody and a bit swet. That brown grocery bag paper note and some fruity hops. Not very bitter except fo the aftertaste which is a bit unpleasant. An IPA that does infact belong in the bottom 30% for its style

Sampled on draft at the Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh this beer poured an orange-copper color with a medium sized orange-white head. The aroma is strong grapefruity and floral hops. The flavor is sweet and has strong grapefruity and piney hops and a dry bitter finish. The hops linger but there really is a noticeable lack of malt. The beer is very one dimensional and bit lacking though there are some nice elements.

Bottle Pours a very dark brown with a large, coarse but quickly fading brown head. Spotty lacing. Lots of Burbon and vanilla in the aroma. Some light roasted chocolate notes also. Flavor is more woody and bitter. Feel is a bit thin and quick. Lots of darker roastd and cofee notes in the trailer. Slightly astringent and chalky at the end as well. Thanks to OhioDad for this one.

22oz Bottle Pours out black topped with a tan. A nice oak/wood aroma on top. There is also a nice sweat tast on this. I like this Porter. Thanks Indiana_Red
