Description
For over 20 years, Arcadia Ales has been committed to a British Inspired – American Brewed stable of beers. We aspire to brew beers that achieve brilliance through balance – ales that satisfy the senses with complex flavor while providing pure refreshment that leaves you wanting more.

In 1996, our first 25 barrel batch was brewed on a Brick Kettle Brewing System from England at our Battle Creek, MI location. Fast-forward – today every batch is produced in our 50 barrel American-made brewhouse at our Kalamazoo Riverfront Brewery, Pub and Garden. Our 20th Anniversary in 2016 ushered in a new era of brewing possibilities with the installation of two new 100bbl closed fermentation tanks giving us the ability to use new yeast strains while we continue to brew classic Arcadia Ales using our distinctive, proprietary yeast strain in our traditional, open fermenters. The ability to brew with new yeast strains opens up the Arcadia Brewing Company portfolio of offerings, allowing our brewers to be creative in ways that were not previously accessible and broadening the scope of beers produced. With these changes, we still keep our promise to use only the finest domestic and English malted barley, along with the highest quality hops available from the Pacific Northwest and Michigan.

Admin Note: Formerly named Arcadia Brewing Co. In the spring of 2014, Arcadia completed a new production facility in Kalamazoo, MI. The Battle Creek facility closed in 2016. The company ceased all operations in September 2019.

In June 2020, the Superfluid Supply Co. division of Short's Brewing announced its purchase of Arcadia's beer brands and intellectual property. Whitsun Ale was the first release with plans to resurrect other recipes in the future as well.

Admin Note: Short's confirmed in 2024 that they have fully retained the Arcadia brand. They still hold the rights, but there is no plan to continue brewing Arcadia beers.

22oz Bottle Pours out black topped with a tan. A nice oak/wood aroma on top. There is also a nice sweat tast on this. I like this Porter. Thanks Indiana_Red

Bottle pours a hazy dark orange amber. NIce, lasting creamy off-white head. Lots of thick sturdy lacing. Aroma is modest hoppy, citrusy notes with some sweet carmely malt flavors as well. Flavor is a softly woody malt profile with fairly bitter grassy hop componant. Some soapy tastes as well. A bit light on the palate for a double. The ABVm while a bit high, is not very noticeable. Thanks to Pinkzambia for sharing this one.

Hazy dark amber with a thin off white head. Smooth hops and fur tree, caramel, less intense than the Simcoe. In mouth, a light malt and hops, with light refreshing menthol. Medium bodied, nice alcohol warmt in final. Nice. Enjoyed with the Mtl Crew Sept. 9, 2006.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, orangey brown with a lightly creamy, beige head. Alomost vinous, roasted malt aroma. Medium body with dark, roasted malty accents. Almost a bit coffeeish without ever being overly burned or bitter. 290806

A pitch brown beer with a fast disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of both chocolate and caramel, but also hints of the alcohol showing off. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of stored fruits, and light notes of roasted malt and alcohol.

Nice pale ale, and so far the best from Arcadia i’ve had. Aroma starts malty, with notes of caramel and fruit (persimmon, apricot). Hops show briefly, spicy and grapefruit. Mellow and balanced, without as much extract-twang as their other beers I’ve tried.

A nice beer, seemingly capturing components of both british and PNW style IPAs. The malts are chewy, with caramel and butterscotch. The hops are fresh, medium strength with orange rind and grapefruit citrus, and also tending toward a piney resin character. Medium bitter finish. Cloudy copper color, big foaming head. As with their other beers, this one featured an amateurish homebrew feel, from the crooked labels to the "stale extract"-style twang in the finish. On the whole a nicely designed IPA, just not overly well executed.

Funny stuff, it screams homebrew from beginning to end. The label was on crooked and the neck badge was falling off (and crooked too). Pours a cloudy amber color, with a big head. Aroma is slightly off, with dough, pineapple, yeast and vinegar. Flavor is slightly tart and oddly fruity, somewhat herbal. Somewhat "green" tasting, and like I said, its like beginner homebrew.
