Bottle at DS - thanks to Ken. It pours near black with thick tan head. The aroma is earthy roast, aniseed, cocoa, plummy fruits, fruit cake, toasted brown sugar and treacle. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy roast, cocoa, tannin, spice, dull smoke, woody, spice and fruit cake. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A bit thin and feels more like a porter than a black ipa.

Gravity cask at the Pigs Ear 2017 - Hackney. Pours lightly hazy yellow-gold with a frothy, white head. Nice nose, with juicy tangerine, lemon rind, background pale bread. Light sweet flavour with mild rindy bitterness, some juicy grapefruit and tangerine, melon, papaya. Light bodied with fine carbonation; great condition. Well balanced finish, with good pithy citrus, some tropical accents, dried pale malts, mellow rindy bitterness. A rather great low-ABV hop sauce.

Gravity cask at Broood, Leicester. Golden and hazy, with a spotty white head and lots of lacing. Peachy aroma with some ripe astringency and notes of pine resin. Taste is sharp, astringent and bitter. There’s some rounded apricotty sweetness coming around to the finish. Some vanilla cream notes and TCP in the aftertaste. Special.
