Description
Blue Moon is known for its Belgian-Style Wheat Ale which was created in 1995 by Keith Villa, a brewer at the Sandlot Brewery at Coors Field, Denver. It was originally brewed in the Coors brewery in Golden, Colorado. In the summer of 2016 a new state-of-the-art brewery was opened in Denver’s RiNo District. Since then we have been brewing fan favorites (old and new), and experimenting with new and unique ingredients on our pilot brewing system.

On tap at the loive garden in burlington vermont.
Hazy gold, small white head. Aroma of sweet, papery malted wheat, weak citrus, and light honey. Cloyingly sweet, light bitterness, i couldn’t finish my pint.

Bottle in England. Aroma is light malt, wheaty, some yeast, bready, light sweetish fruits, citrus, hint of yeast. Flavour is light to moderate sweet. Body is about medium. Not a bad Witbier at all.

Bottle from a supermarket in Oregon. Aroma is very spicy with an overdose of cinnamon, soft wheaty malt, rice and a hint of citrus and vanilla. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and mildly bitter. Body is medium. Way too heavy on the cinnamon for my taste.

Clear gold in color with a three-finger head. Aroma is grains, biscuit and hard baseball card bubblegum smell (honey?). Taste is kinda the same. Just average.

It's fitting that I started my Ratebeer journey with rating Blue Moon, and I'm closing out my final rate of mine on this site with another Blue Moon. On top of that, it's a NA, what many would consider a pale imitation of the original. However, in the case of Blue Moon, this really does taste a lot like the original. Orange and coriander. Grain. Very light. It's, fine. I'd say it hits the marks on what it's trying to be. In may ways I'd rather just drink one of these and save the extra calories and alcohol on something else. It's been a journey.
