bottle - This is a very straightforward hefeweizen. It has a light, yeasty aroma. The flavor is mild. It’s too mild even for the style. While the flavor is decent, there’s certainly nothing offensive here, and it is refreshing, it’s too bland and thin. There are far better hefeweizens around.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden colour with a fast disappearing white head. Malty grainy aroma, with some hints of alcohol. Sweet malty grainy and slightly grassy flavor. Malty finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottled (as König Ludwig Weissbier). Hazy golden, brief head. Papery banana aroma. Dryish with dense rounded mouthfeel, restrained bubblegum esters, medium body. Streamlined weizen, decent enough, but somewhat charmless. Notes of vanilla, evident wheat malt flavour.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, orangey brown with a small, beige head. Lovely, classical aroma of roasted malt. Medium body with plenty of roasted malt, but dry and very quaffable. Far from sophisticated but top notch German quality. 171006

Bottle, Konig Ludwig Weissbier Hell. Cloudy orange gold, thick off white head. Tangy lemon aroma, cereal/wheat. Light aroma, satisfying in mouth, more subtle lemon, over a full bodied malt/wheat combo, cereal lemon finish. Satisfying subtle beer.

Hazy dull beige colour. Not much head by weizen standards. Aroma of sweat, banana, nutmeg, sour pears. Sweet & sour flavour with apple/pear notes dominating, banana sublimated and the malts come across more like icing sugar than anything else. Lifeless example marred by a misguided sense of balance, accenting all the wrong things.
