Description
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

Bottle - yeasty apple vinegar aroma. Cloudy yellow color - looks like lemonade. Tart/sour flavor - like drinking unsweetened lemonade. Moderate body. Typical Berliner Weisse - if you like tart it’s a good choice.

Bottle - a tart/sour aroma - only slight hint of fruitiness. Clear yellow-tan color. Very tart flavor (like a green apple) with the slightess hint of fruity malt. Understand why Berliners don’t drink this straight but with a shot of raspberry or woodruff syrup. It’s very tart and bland.

Bottled (BB 11/2004)
Pale yellow color, medium creamy head. Aroma is sweet, metallic and harsh hoppy. Flavor is sweetish, a bit hard mouthfeel with some hops thrown in. Not the worst pils but quite hard and plain palate.

Pale lager color and small white head. Dry, a bit skunked hoppy aroma with hints of rubber. Sweetish with attacking dry hops and slightly bitter finish. Unbalanced mouthfeel and not very interesting pils.(4/2/4/2/8 2.0)
Re-rated, bottled (BB 06/2005)
Yellow, small white head. Weak grassy nose with rubbery tones. Sweetish malty with low-quality hops - grassy, skunked flavor. Lacks aftertaste. (3/2/3/2/7 1.7)

Bottled. Very pale yellow, no head. Citric acid nose. Light bodied with fruity, rubbery, vital mouthfeel. Sour, but very refreshing. Does have a lot of similarities to Döllnitzer Ritterguts Gose.

Pours golden yellow with a bright white head. Corn and yeast scents with a small amount of sugary notes. First taste brought a slightly sweet corn and grape flavour with a hoppy finish. Palate was watery with that pilsner taste that I've never liked but this one wasn't too bad. Nothing outstanding!!
