Description
It all started with eight visionary men who founded the “Vereinsbrauerei Berliner Gastwirte zu Berlin AG” on February 1st, 1872 in Rixdorf. They established a modern brewery within one year, which was opened on July 19, 1873. The first public serving takes place on this day. In 1890 the brewery decides, as one of the first breweries in Germany, to brew a Pilsen beer. It is called - based on its southern German relatives - "Berliner Kindl". In 1910 the brewery is renamed "Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG". In 2006 Berliner Kindl returns to its former location in the east of Berlin. The entire range is now brewed in the Berliner Kindl Schultheiss brewery in Lichtenberg.

Like the original Berliner Weisse very sweet and sirupy, but this one looks radioactive!

Why the 'schuss'? Otherwise it's probably completely undrinkable. If you like syrup, it's pretty good actually, but com'on, this is no beer!

Typical german pilsener. Bad smell, ultradry palate. Ugh!...................

Rerate: bottle from Bierman & Bierman a while back, BB 10.15, 33 cl sample. Almost clear golden color, medium frothy head. Aroma of grainy wheat, soft sour tropical fruit and a bit of puke and cardboard, which partly could be caused by the age. Soft sourness, citric acid and lactic acid. Not bad, should still try a fresher example. Original rate: Indeed extremely sour. Bit artificial fruits. Very weak. Not very good to start a 12-day german road/beer-trip with. 2 1 2 1 2 = 0.8

I just quaffed this refreshing zesty beer on an extremely hot July afternoon in Philadelphia - during what may be my last trip to Monks! No woodruff or other syrup - just clean, sour, acidic mouth puckering wheat beer. Rather enjoyable. Quite refreshing. For its sourness, one might expect it would be hard to drink, but on a day like today, I could drink alot of this stuff. I'll want to try this with the various syrups. Light head, light golden color, mediun carbonation.

Rich, satisfyingly malty, with just a touch of dryness in the finish, like all good bocks.

Lovely this beer in 1999 (3.9) but in 2010 this is thin, with vague dark sugars on the nose. Very dark brown. Sweet, kind of candyish. Industrial, maybe even oxidized. There have been a lot of changes in the Berlin beer scene in the past ten years, and they haven’t been good for this beer.
