Cask at Captain Cooks, Östersund. Aroma, pretty non existent. Ruby colour with reasonable liveliness in the foam when pulled. Would explain why it is advertised as a ruby ale. It is comforting as bitters go but it has a slight metallic note.

Bottle. Amber with a 1/2cm white head. Aroma of boiled citrus lollies, light bread. Moderately sweet and a bit biscuity with building bitterness. Citrus and weedy hops notes are strongish but not vibrant. OK.

Cask at Bear & Billet, Chester. Pours pale straw with a medium sized almost white head and good lacing. Floral hops to the fore in the aroms, plus traces of stone fruit. In the mouth it is sweet and quite juicy, but with some underlying bitterness that gradually increases. Hints of citrus and bread rolls but it’s mainly floral hops which ctach the taste buds. It’s reasonable.

Can. Amber with a fat coat of off white head. Aroma of light bread, some berries, citrus, spices. A bit watery. Light bready malt with some berries and hints of peach. Citrus gets a bit lost but the finish is spicy and moderately bitter. OK.

440ml can. Pours a clear dark brown with red hue and a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of toasted bready malt, caramel, chocolate, earth and light spice. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, raisin, plum and light spice in a sweet finish. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Malt forward and tasty.

Bottiglia.
