In 1987 Theakston was taken over by Scottish & Newcastle, core beers being brewed at Tyne Brewery. In 2003 the Family bought the company back and moved all production back to Masham.

Best before 10/24, bottle coming from Amstein, tasting it, on friday, at night, without stress. A classical bitter, brewed on the English way, fresh malt, smooth, mineral, fruity, subtle bitterness with this taste of U.K, not strong but refreshing.

Old rating from Nov 2014 - 500ml bottle, pours a very dark brown with a beige creamy head. Aromas & tastes of fortified wine, dried fruits, plum pudding, toasted bread & hints of spice. Medium body. Dry mildly bitter finish.

Bottle. Brown, no head. Warmth, raisins, herbal, caramel. Fizzy, front heavy. Not as sweetness as expected. Flower, caramel, roasted, toffee. Weak body. Not bad.

Loose white head left a froth on pale amber coloured body.
Sweet, malt & stone fruit aroma.
Medium bodied, smooth with a well carbonated back.
Malt, perfume, stone fruit & sweet tastes with a long bitter finish.
Nice drinker.
