75cl bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, April 16, courtesy of Jeremy. Pours a deep hazy brown with tan head. Aroma is earthy and lightly sweet. Taste bears berries and strange creamy icing flavours.. caramel, yeast, jenever and floral elements with an old ale feel. Very interesting brew.

75cl bottle at the April 2016 Shrewsbury beer share meeting. Having read all of the 9 reviews on here I was not sure if I should take it: glad I did. Best before mid-May this year, it appears to have matured a little in the bottle because I thought it had legs and was both interesting, different and tasty. Poured a dark ruby/brown with a wispy topping. The nose was both fruity and malty with a strange wood like aroma. The taste also had a woody feel, struggled to find any Jenever flavours but thought the overall taste was a little boozy and mellow, in fact not a long way from the regular Harlekijn once I re-read my review of it.

Unstoppable gushing upon opening, losing approx. 1/4 of the bottle. Medium to good, dense cream-coloured head over muddy red-brown beer. Bottle sports also some absolutely inedited UFO’s, black, hard, looking for all the world as burnt coal. Alcoholic nose, chewing gum, chocolate, bit of dry wood. Dense head doesn’t release aroma’s easily. Alcoholtaste. Jenever is recognisable. Again dry wood, dried-out chocolate, maltbiscuit or fake chocolate maltdrink. Faint spices (the jenever again?). Restrained but present alcoholwarmth. Slick-viscous, without being really dense. Long lasting flavours - if far from intense. Yes - jenever, gin, vodka, akvavit, all the cheap grainspirits don’t add flavour to the beer; waste of time and money.

Pours very murkey brown, small white head. Smell is mild malty, with a sweet sidenote. Taste is very quadrupel-inspired, mellow sweet malts, with a buttery, caramel earthy flavors. The barrel is very hidden, and not really jenever in the taste. Rather mild body ( would have liked more body ) Perfect carbo. Bit boozy. Rather weak in taste , especiallyu for the ABV

Pours clear amber, small white head . Smell is fresh , some hops , some sweet malts . Taste is amber-malty sweetness ( in a great way ) some bitter , mild hoparoma ( typical for both hops used as far as I know ) . Well made beer ! A light hint too much carbonation , but still very OK .

Bottle from tderoeck. Many thanks! Shared @ RBBWG 2015. Red amber colour, minimal head. Medium carbonation. Sweet malty with fruity notes (some banana and peach). Alcoholic finish. Jenever? I wonder if jenever is a good spirit for barrel aging.

6th Feb 2015: 33cl bottle in the lovely ’Yesterdays World Beer’ a bar inside an antique shop in Brugge. Slight haze to my amber pour, the head a good showing of white bubbles. Nice tulip shaped glass badged for the beer helped to make it look good. Citrus notes in a semi-sweet nose, spiced with something but I couldn’t pick it up. Taste also semi-sweet with an orange hint within the fruitiness and that spiciness again giving the beer a tropical feel to it’s flavour. OK, but not what I expected.

Thanks to tderoeck! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBWG IV.2014 Vintage / Version. GUSHER. Hazy brown, little head. Sweet malt, sugar, very basic & boring nose, overripe fruit, light cheep booze but barely there. Taste is fizzy sugar, boring overripe fruit, barrel is at first barely there but becomes more apparent the more you drink, finish carries cheap jenever,.. Sugary body,… Very lousy & boring beer in my opinion & the price tag of 20 € doesn’t really improve my opinion of it.
