3 pints on keg at the Gidea Park Tap Room. Near clear gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Smooth palate with good fine minerally carbonation bringing up the rear. Light smooth creamy sweet malts. Hops are a delight, soft cooling pine and a soft underlying hop skunk with the main show being a fairly broad spectrum of hoppy citrus and tropical fruits. Goes down very easy indeed. Packs a hoppy punch for a SIPA.

Cask at Bay Hop, Colwyn Bay. Aroma has the trad boiled veg - plus chunky malts. Ampersand have nailed this! Clear copper gold. Thin foamy translucent white head soon thins out. Flava combines light-medium sour citrus with a caramel streak. Underlying malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. If Ampersand were aiming to give a slight boost to a veg soup Golden Ale, they're done it.

Cask at Chelmsfaasarhd Beer Fest. Near clear deep amber beer, good bubbly pale tan head. Light palate, mildly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Unsurprisingly, the dark malts are slightly thin. Modest chocolate and very modest coffee. Some pleasing ripe fruits on the back end, touch of thin marmalade. Light and semi dry finish. Yeah, hard to complain about this 3.3% Mild. Does what it says on the tin.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a dark reddish-brown with minimal off-white head and some lacing. The aroma is dominated by malts, but there are also traces of dried fruit and blackberries. Malts again to the fore in the mouth, where it is sweet with flavours also of figs and raisins. Later on there are hints of cola and bread rolls too, leafing to a slightly fruity finish. This is decent – though not particularly exciting.

Handpull cask at the Eagle, Warwick. Reddish brown with a small beige head. Light aroma, some caramel and stone fruits. Taste is fairly bitter, a little spicy with light notes of fruited caramel. Short finish. Light watery body, no carbonation. Promising in places but that little bit dull overall.

Handpull cask at the Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester. Light Ruby brown, clear and a but thin looking with a tiny uneven beige/khaki head. Bit sweet bready malty small, with light notes of redcurrant. Sweet taste, very bteady, ever so slightly fruity, will only a tinge of bitterness toward the finish. A brilliant mild.
