Description
Tigertops Brewery started in June 1995 by Stuart and Lynda Johnson (now of the Foxfield Brewery in Cumbria). Nowadays, brewing is under the control of Barry Smith known to many as "Axeman".

Barry enjoys experimenting with continental recipes and continental yeasts.It is based behind a private house at Oakes Street in Flanshaw near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, , and whilst perhaps not being as well known as some other micro breweries in the area, has produced a number of award winning beers appreciated by those who have tried them.

Cloudy pale yellow beer, creamy white head, bit stable, adhesive. Aroma: wheat, coriander, goat cheese, sweet touch, grapes. MF: light to no carbon (due to the special hand pumping technique), light to medium body. Taste: fruiy, lime, pretty sweet, grapefruit, agrum lemonade, touch of pineapple. Aftertaste: bitter hops, orange peel, some spices but not much.

Poured by the brewer himself. Very dark brown beer, creamy head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: mocha, almost coffee, bit of caramel, spices, cloves. MF: very soft carbon, light to medium body. Taste: sour and wheaty start, some citrus, mocha, roasted malts, some tangerines. Aftertaste: mocha, bit of coffee, still some citrus and a little sour.

From cask at PINT Meibockfestival ’11. Clear brown with a red hue, dens off white head. Aroma of lots of citrussy hops, grapefruit, lemon. Flavour is light sweet, malty, fruity and flowery, some yeast, firm citrus and grapefruit bitter finish, a bit grainy. Light bodied.

Cask. An unclear dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt as well as a lighter note of straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as a lighter note of straw, leading to a dry and bitter finish.

Cask (handpump) @ The New Oxford, 11 Bexley Sq, Salford, Manchester, England M3 6DB.Light unclear medium orange color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, nutty, caramel, moderate hoppy, overripped orange - mandarin. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100121]

Cask. Hazy amber golden with an off-white head. A little caramel and nuts in the nose. Medium body, nuts and yeast with a fairly hoppy finish. 210110

Cask, gravity at The White Horse, Hedgerley, 18th ’Coming of Age’ Beer Festival 28-05-10 Pours coca cola black with no head. Quite bitter, with plenty of coffee this then smooths out and almost has a coffee milkshake quality about it. The hops are present, but there is a good roastiness. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.6

From cask at PINT Meibockfestival. Hazy pale yellow colour, big white head. Aroma of sulphur and dung at first, later more citrus comes forward. Flavour is very refreshing, light sour, lots of citrus, good hoppy bitterness. Very light bodied, a bit watery, but really nice flavours.

From cask at PINT Meibockfestival. Clear amber colour, small off white head. Aroma of caramel, light malty, light flowery. Flavour is light sweet, malty, caramel, light flowery yeast, hint of cardboard. Light to medium bodied. OK, just very timid.

Cask at The New Oxford, Manchester. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of matl, citrus, and grassy and grapfruity hop notes. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, citrusy hops, and a slightly tart accent - is it the Orval yeast, leading to a slightly tart finish. The body is light.
