Description
Four lifelong Oregonians got together on February 13, 2009 and decided that their knowledge of locale and understanding of craft beer could be an excellent starting point for a business. Later that year Hop Valley Brewing had its debut in Springfield, Oregon, but grew too large for its 15-barrel capacity and opened a new 60-barrel brewhouse and taproom in Eugene in 2013. In July 2016 MillerCoors acquired a majority stake of Hop Valley through its Tenth and Blake craft beer and import division. Hop Valley Brewing Company will operate as a separate business unit of Tenth and Blake.

12oz can from Brewers Haven. Cloudy golden pour, robust white foamy head. Aroma brings hoppy notes and caramel malts. Taste delivers a classic hoppy bite, like a time machine back to the heyday of the American IPA. Piney, bitter, citrus, earthy. Hits all the right marks for me.

Can from the Nugget Market in Woodland, CA. Pours hazy gold with a huge creamy/foamy white head. Aroma of citrus, including grapefruit. Med body or better. It's juicy but not excessively sweet. Flavor is lots of citrus and grapefruit zest seems part of it. Light malt support. Moderately bitter. Very pleasing.

Can from Nugget Market in Woodland, CA. Pours lightly hazy gold with a large creamy white head. Aroma has citrus and something like strawberry - not kiwi tho. Med plus body. It's juicy and lightly sweet. Also a little astringent and moderately bitter. Flavor is tropical - persian melon and citrus with something like sucking apricot pits. Rather mellow.

On tap at CopenRoss, Boise Clear deep chestnut pour. Thin light tan head. Clean and smooth and toasty. A little sweetness and a smooth finish. Drank it a little too cold though probably.
