Description
Our craft beers are contemporary yet rooted in history and inspired by classic types of beer. You can taste the history of prison town Veenhuizen in our beers. The Maallust beers are artisanal, authentic and brewed with only the very best ingredients. Whether it’s our hoppy blonde Weldoener or the treacherously smooth tripel Zware Jongen; Maallust beers are full of character.

Maallust was founded in 2011. It was initiated by a group of 25 entrepeneurs who call themselves the ‘Zware Jongens’ (Heavy Guys). They not only started brewing in Veenhuizen, they also revived the dilapidated Maallust complex. After a thorough renovation, the brewery opened its doors. Today, the Maallust complex looks marvelous, and its beer is available all throughout the Netherlands. Maallust is the perfect addition to a village with a unique history.

Shared together with Benzai. Cheers! Sampled draft @ Tilburgs Bierfestival 2016. Deep hazy golden, creamy white head. Nose is medicinal bland flowers, touch moldy, biological other grains. Taste is weird moldy citrus, biological other grains, dried wild flowers, musty, milky, tad yoghurt. Fizzy & milky. Akin to the kind of biological / Fairtrade alternative beers that you get in Belgium, lousy beers mean to make some profit in a niche market. There is worse than this but I am not really into it.

Draught @ Tilburgs Bierfestival 2016. Shared with 77ships. Clear bright yellow color, medium sized white head. Aroma is wheat, softly malts, quite floral, blossomy, overall a bit sweetish with a soft underlying bitter hint. Average body and carbonation. Not bad, guess it would taste quite nice on a terrace on a hot day.
