Description
Spearheading the barrel-ageing movement from Scotland, The Original bourbon barrel-aged beer is the one that started Innis & Gunn when Master Brewer Dougal Gunn Sharp founded the brewery in 2003.

Innis & Gunn was contract brewed in Glasgow at Tennent's Wellpark Brewery since 2014. On 15 November 2018 Tennent's announced the brewing contract will be terminated with effect from September 2020. Innis & Gunn responded the following day by saying they plan on opening their own brewery.

The Innis & Gunn Brewery in Perth is our home for innovation and barrel-ageing. With plans to build a new large scale brewery in our hometown of Edinburgh, it will be the first new large brewery to be built in the capital in 150 years.

This Wee poured a deep amber colour with a creamy, off white head. Nice lacing. Scents include rum, cocoa, vanilla and malt. First swig was smooth and minimally carbonated. Flavours of rum, malt, toffee and a little vanilla. Finish is sweet with rummy, caramel flavours lingering.

Bottle at home, thanks to Michael next door, 23/12/2025.
Clear golden blonde topped with a just off white head that retains.
Nose is pale malts, straw, grain, herb.
Taste comprises breads, straw, dull fruits, hedgerow.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Passable.

Golden brown, no head. Sweet, no bitterness, slight toffee, and then the wood is mellow.

Door 1 of my homemade beer advent calendar. Good pour with lasting lacing. Mature nose and a huge hit of vanilla on the taste buds. It tastes like one of those awful pastry tours and this isn't for me.

Cherry, oak, malt & berry tastes with a tangy finish.
Nice but one's enough.

Soft whiskey tones and just the right amount of warming alcohol. The taste is quite short though. It's also relatively thin for its 11%. But still, it's quite ok.
