Description
Initially launched in early 2020 as a gypsy brewery, they opened their own brewery in Autumn 2020.
Newbarns is a brand-new brewery, but the team behind it certainly know what they’re doing. McKenzie, his partner Emma McIntosh, Jonny Hamilton and Fred Bjerkseth have an impressive array of experience between them from the likes of The Kernel, Siren and Beavertown breweries

Can direct from Newbarns. It pours slightly hazy bright golden - yellow with a decent white head. The aroma is fresh, bright, juicy, mango, peach, gooseberry, star fruit, white grape, weedy abs sine bready malt. The taste is initially smooth, clean malts, pretty green, weedy, dank, pithy, zesty, grapefruit, mango, peach, bitterness builds and lingers throughout, white grape, gooseberry, touch of spice and prickle of boozey warmth with a drying, green finale. Medium body, average carbonation and fluffy mouth feel. Nice to see Newbarns do a higher abv pale number. Bright and satisfying. Good one.

Lovely beer. Nice rounded jammy dark fruits, berries, brown bread, dark malts, toast, nips of leather and earth. Creamy. Not overly sweet. A hint of molasses. Nicely balanced overall. Loads of character for the ABV.

Can direct from Newbarns. It pours crystal clear yellow - blonde with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, toasty grains, wood, baked goods, biscuit, grassy, leafy, herbal, cereal and a touch of nuttiness. The taste is crispy, dry, bitter, snappy, dry wood character, pleasing woody bitterness, clean malt base, toasty grains, cereal, pie crust, nuttiness, crunchy biscuit, grassy, herbal, touch of green veg and verbena with a dry, green finale. Average body and pleasantly fluffy carbonation. Nice depth of flavour and unique character. I am (unlike some previous others) a big fan of this.
