Description

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Hazy orangy color, full sized quite quickly diminishing off-white head. Smell and taste malts, herbal hops, the slightest hint of floral hops in the distance, biscuit maltyness and malt bitter over hop bitter with also a slight sweet touch to it. Lightly herbal spice finish. Medium body, suitable decent carbonation. Ok beer.

New hobby brew commercialized through Gulden Spoor. Slightly hazy orange blonde colour with yeast particles everywhere, moussy, yellowish white, very regularly shaped but rather unstable head, breaking open in seconds. Malty and slightly estery, ’clean’ but still typically ’Belgian blonde’ aroma of biscuit, red apple, some mandarin, roasted pine nuts, fresh pineapple, grass, honey, hint of caramel, nettles, very faint sulphuric odour, vague rainwater smell and slight but unmistakable phenols (nail polish). Fruity, estery onset, peach, banana, sweet with a suggestion of white candi sugar, spicy yeastiness, rounded and supple mouthfeel, very drinkable as one would expect from the style; medium carbo, agreeable caramelly and slightly honeyish malt sweetness, leading to a finish of lingering malt sweetness plus a rather unexpected kind of resinous, liquorice-like spicy sweetness, countered by a deep, earthy, leafy hop of slightly above average duration, but not powerful enough to fully balance the initial sweetness. Completely acceptable, I can see myself drinking this in an outdoors café in Brugues on a summer day and there is somewhat more complexity to it than one would think at first glance, but Belgium has just too many of these beers: granted, there are dozens of new breweries and beer companies around these days, but how about innovation?

Pours rather warm blonde. Ok white head. Smell is malts and mild hops. Bit sweet. Taste is surprisingly bitter, with some malty hoparoma. Latehoping rather than dryhopping. Nice mouthfeel and carbo. Very balanced, subtile and rather complex. Nice
