Bottle (marked as bottled 3/6/2012). Pours with a near black body with a large brown head with good retention and lace. Aromas are of prunes, plums, raisins, dark fruits, pear drops, estery, bourbon, rye, spicy oak, fusel, oak, brown sugar, maple. Shockingly estery. Flavors are very sweet, burnt brown sugar, marzipan, molasses, dates, medium yeast character, marshmallow, flan, medium bitter and some char. Nearly cloying, full bodied, syrupy with light carbonation and light warming.

12 oz. bottle from Whole Foods in Monterey, CA. Pours amber with a 3 finger foamy/creamy beige head. Aroma is citrus/floral. Med body. Flavor is citrus/floral/earthy with perhaps even a light touch of pine. Herb aspect. Nice malt backbone which manages to lend a little sweet despite all the hop. It’s pretty delicious stuff.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours amber with a 2 finger frothy whitish head. Lots of resin over mildly roasted caramel for aroma. Med body. Flavor is nicely resin. A little simple compare to FW XV, but an incredibly good IPA. This should go Imperial as soon as can be.

Bottle. Batch 001 from 9/7/11. Pours with a clear, very deep brown body with a tan head. Aromas are of concord grapes, dark fruit esters, alcohol, brandy, rye whiskey, vanillin, chewy, figs, alcohol. Flavors are sweet, chewy, tobacco, fudge, concord grapes, mild vanillin, light cherry, alcohol, raisins, figs, plums. Light bubbles, extremely sweet, lots of alcohol, and medium bitter. For my palate: not nearly as nice as their BA Human Block Head (as far as their BA beers go).

Pour is a hazy copper with a small white head, Aroma is nicely hopped with a decent pine resin. Flavor is also decently hopped but not overly so. The malts are just barely there but do leave a nice dry cracker on the tounge. Decent beer and at a nice price.

22oz bomber poured into a shaker. Pours a lightly cloudy brownish purple with minimal off-white head. Aroma of figs and dark fermented fruits with a good dose of concord wine. Taste is medium bitter. Caramel, some pine and some roasty nuts. Medium bodied with a thin texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. Not really what I was expecting but still ok. I wish I would have got this fresh because I’m sure it would be a lot better. But, since I got it for $3 on the discount rack, I’ll gladly finish the bottle.
