A hazy amber beer with a disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet, very hoppy, with notes of caramel. The flavor is very sweet with notes of alcohol, caramel and a lovely bitter dry end.

On draught at the brewpub. Pours pitch black with a thick and frothy light tan head. Sticky rings of lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium-bodied and very creamy, with a nice roasted coffee character. Dark chocolate, malt and hops flavors are nicely balanced. The finish is dry and lightly hoppy. I have had 2 excellent Dry Stouts recently (Cadillac Mountain being the other) that have reminded me what a great beer style this can be. This is a keeper.

Thanks to Dough77 for this one! Black colour. Aroma has a lot of chocolate, light roast with some plum notes. It has a rich, deep, chocolatey character with burnt fruitcake roastiness that adds accent to the background. Rich, chewy and well-crafted. Finishes intensely with coffee, tons of malty sweetness and balancing alcohol.

Great Lakes usually provides exemplary models for the beers they create, and the fact that this brew is merely above average is kind of a letdown. Still, it’s pretty good. Deep ruby amber color with a medium beige head and thin lacing. The aroma is roasted malt and caramel. Medium-bodied and on the carbonated side, with flavors of sweet malt, light hops and a bit of fruit. The finish is clean and somewhat sweet. Overall pretty good, but I just know GLBC could knock this one out of the park if they really wanted to.

Draft, at CLBC, July 30, ’05 Served as "Christmas ale in July." Yup, it’s all there: honey, ginger and cinnamon. Kind of comes across as a pumpkin pie spice beer. Good maltiness. Turns out to be a good summer beer too, when enjoyed in a cellar bar.
2004 Bottle, rated Jan 12, ’05. Brown like an IPA when poured, and almost as hoppy. In fact, I think the spiciness in this beer comes more from hops than any spices themselves. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.. Rather, what I find is something more "easy drinking" than the usual overspiced holiday beer.

Hazy orange/golden coloured body with a super-thin white head. Aroma of yeast, coriander seed, alcohol and a nice spiceyness. Medium-bodied; Sweet character with a good nutmeg and coriander seed freshness. Yeasty flavour that lasts a while in the palate. Aftertaste shows a prolonged sweetness & yeastiness mouthful. Overall, a nice tripel, definitely worth trying! Thanks to my mom for picking this up for me on a trip back to Detroit. I’ve had this one saved for a few years, so i’m not sure when it was made. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 06-December-2004.

Deep garnet with a thick off white head. Roast malt aroma with caramel. The roasted malt flavor remind me of unbuttered toast. Medium body with a dry finish. Good brew and a nice change of pace.

Bottle pours a dark caramel golden hazy golden color with a modest liight tan head. Coarse lacing. Aromas are sweet malty and some caramel and hops...like barlywine. Dry astringent flavor. Malt and caramel and spice. average carbonation.Significant hops character and a bitter hoppy finish. Not bad. Thanks to HerFtyDork for sharing this one
