Tap. Pours clear black, medium tan head, dissipates quickly, a bit of lacing. Aroma of ashtray, anise, hints of smoke. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, black jack gum, root beer, hints of smoke, rubber. Medium plus body. Weird.

On tap at industry public house, big draft. Nuetral smell. Slight haze on a pale beer. Initial taste is slightly hay like, enjoyable. Better than expected for a helles. Usually I get a sweet cloying beer. Yes, not sure if its a helles or simply a haylike amercan lager, either way not bad and quite enjoyable. Bitterness sets in mildly on the finish. Overall, good haylike lager experience, not bad.

This was poured into a lager glass.
The appearance was golden color with a sly transparency to it. Carbonation seems to ride at a nice pace. Paper thin white cap of a head. Light stringy lacing.
The aroma starts with some sweet bready to biscuity maltiness. Light grassiness coming from the German hops serves to balance nicely.
The flavor balances the crisp sweet maltiness to blend nicely with the sweet grassy hops. Quick semi-sweet biscuity aftertaste with the same finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice sessionable smooth sweet crisp feel over my tongue. Carbonation seems fairly low yet good.
Overall, well done Dortmunder that I would have again.
