Description
Fat Head's was founded in 1992 as a premiere craft beer tap house and restaurant in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2009 we expanded to Ohio and teamed up with our award-winning Head Brewmaster Matt Cole. With the explosion in popularity came the necessity to open a full-scale production brewery in 2012. Fat Head's Brewery produces original ales and lagers for distribution throughout Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

Our Tap House offers Samples, Flights, and Fresh-brewed Pints! Sit right in the heart of our facility and enjoy the freshest beer from our tanks to your pint glass. We have a 16 tap draft system, bar seating, picnic tables, and some seriously tasty grub to go with it.

On tap. Poured a very cloudy purplish brown with a near white head that laced a bit. Aroma was very sweet with notes of banana, bubblegum and a slight undertone of clove. Flavor began very sweet with bubblegum, but banana and clove helped to balance out the finish.

On tap. Poured a clear pale gold with a white head that laced nicely. Aroma was full of strong hops with a bit of underlying grassy as well. Flavor had a combination of three hop flavors, grass, pine and citrus. The pine was by far the most dominant.

On tap. Poured a clear gold with a thick white head that quickly dissipated, but it did lace a bit. Aroma brought out a blueberry pie note, not much honey though. Flavor had a strong blueberry note and there was just a hint of honey.

Growler from miketd. Murky amber with a medium biege head. Nose of citrus and light pine mixed with light malty maple-toffee notes. Flavor is bitter with lots of malty caramel and toffee. In between a barleywine and a DIPA IMHO!

Beer #17 at GTMW ’09, Cask at the Real Ale Tent). Had to sit down for this one. Light smell most like an abbey dubbel. Slightly hazy, yellowish brown with no head. Very much a dubbel in taste, with candy sugar. Coriander is definite, plus some other savory spices. Very lovely to find a Belgian beer on cask with its mysterious fermentations and spices (and despite this description, I says it IS a Belgian ale). There are probably not a lot of places in Belgium to get a beer CAMRA style, just at a beer geek paradise like this.

Draft at the Bistro’s IPA Fest. My favorite one and it’s from OHIO, no less! Iced down in the large suitcase the five gallon keg came in! Nose was floral and piney hops, big time. Clear yellow amber with a medium glass lacing pale yellow head. Flavor was bitter, bitter, and more bitter. Excellent!

On tap at the Bocktown. Nice brown pour with a tan creamy head. No smell per se. Good carbonation. Initial darker beer and bitter flavors. Medium strong personality. Some farmy attitudes and this stuff is not bad. Perhaps a little more bitter than this lager lover cares for. Finish is medium long bitter medicinal linger.

On tap at the Bocktown, a really nice palce. Looks like a typical pale lager. Quite hoppy and fruity floral aroma. Rude oily mouth coating experience, who put the soap in here? Little if any carbonation. Too much for this lager lover. Lets all chew some green grapefruit rinds and sappy pine needles! Long bitter terrible linger. What can I say but; on style.
