Description
Fat Head's was founded in 1992 as a premiere craft beer tap house and restaurant in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2009 we expanded to Ohio and teamed up with our award-winning Head Brewmaster Matt Cole. With the explosion in popularity came the necessity to open a full-scale production brewery in 2012. Fat Head's Brewery produces original ales and lagers for distribution throughout Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

Our Tap House offers Samples, Flights, and Fresh-brewed Pints! Sit right in the heart of our facility and enjoy the freshest beer from our tanks to your pint glass. We have a 16 tap draft system, bar seating, picnic tables, and some seriously tasty grub to go with it.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a dark caramel color with a medium sized foamy beige head that faded quickly and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy caramel, honey, pie crust and very faint vague spices. The flavor was tangy and boozy with elements of bread, nut, caramel, honey and trace vague spices. Long boozy finish with tangy caramel lingering. Moderately full bodied.

Enjoyed in a snifter. Pours a cloudy dark orange with a 4 finger pillowy white head. Dominant nose of Simcoe and Cascade. Very piney on the nose. Taste is pretty chewy. This is a DIPA not an IPA. It has a solid malt back bone, lots of piney cone and pine resin taste. Pretty sweet and still quite drinkable.

Sample from growler at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 08/02/2012. The beer pours a dark reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of spices and malt. Medium body with a strong potpourri of spices up front, primarily ginger and nutmeg. Some bready malt in the background, and the spice diminishes in the course of a few drinks. The finish is sweetly spiced with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

16oz draft on tap at the Pittsburgh location. Pours a crystal clear, bright orange with one ring of head that faded very fast. Nice, punchy nose, scallions, pine, grapefruit, lemons, earthy, onions. Flavor was similar, bright citrus, pungent garlic, hop leaves, resinous, a little malt sweetness rounding it out. Reminded me of a slightly less tight version of Pliny. Medium bodied, big, zesty finish. Solid beer.
