Not worth the price... Deep brownish, small head. Sweet alcohol in the nose. taste was plain... lotsa sweet alcohol that really coated my mouth and killed every other flavor that was hidden here.

A opaque brown beer with a small brown head. The aroma is sweet malty and so is the flavor combined with notes of roasted bread. I’ll give this a second go, since my notes are very limited for a good beer like this.

Overall a decent brew but lacking in character. I am surprised to find this one as many places as I do. +++Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer pours a dark brown/black color with a small tan head that fades quickly. There is a faint sweet and fruity aroma. The palate is thick. The flavor is an off malt with a heavy essence of molasses. The molasses lingers on the finish.

This rich malty beer is reminiscent of a Jr. Barleywine. Deep garnet brown with just the slightest head. The aroma is malty with a fruity spicyness to it. Complex. Nice beer.

Dark ruby color. Head has an expresso color and is steady. Roasted malt, sweet blackberries - very heavy aroma. Taste is sweet malts, berries and alcohol, full-bodied. Real winter warmer.

Earthy, fairly dry, obviously old, and not so good. Lively, carbonated. Smells cheesy.

Brown color; short head retention. Mild aroma, a bit cheesy. The mouthfeel becomes a bit thinner, but the flavor keeps good caramel qualities; strong bitterness, it's evident that some of it comes from the roasted malts; the final is probably shorter, surely thinner. Good, but not much complex.

Dark amber color. Malt aroma, sweet, mature. Quite good malt and caramel, medium dry, with a light liquorice final. Pleasant, but far less interesting than the Jacobite Ale.

Traquair has a deep garnet color which supports a thin, off white head. It gives off a bready, smoky, burnt toffee aroma. The flavor is toasted marshmallows with hints of chocolate. Smores? Nice Scotch Ale, but at over $5/bottle, I'll buy something else with the money next time. Good beer.

This is actually quite similar to the jacobite ale - dark ruby appearance, almost no head, low carbonation - aroma of brown sugar, port - flavor is very similar to jacobite, with caramel, herbs, oats, earthiness - these flavors, however, are not as well developed or pronounced as in the jacobite, and the body and palate are much thinner - some oak in the finish - decent, but not worth the money.

A dark red beer, with an off-white head and moderate lacing. Strong apple aroma, with darker fruits evident. Apple and raisin flavors overpower traditional "twigs 'n berries" notes.

Clear dark color, short dying head. Aroma of roasted malts, fruity. Taste is of roasted malts, rye, bit fruity, nothing special. Dry and bitter palate, as we expect from an english style.
