Bottle: Poured a deep copper color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with good retention. Aroma of spices, which probably include some coriander and some liquorice, is one of the most enjoyable ever. Taste is also quite distinguishable with the spices mix that marries very well with the molasses malts. One truly unique beer that doesn’t disappoint.

Very dark brown colour with thin white head. Nice choc orange aroma. Good raisins too, gorgeous smell on this beer. The fruit is intense with good dry malty flavour. Finish has juicy dark fruits and oranges. Great beer and touch of ginger spice. 4.8/5.0 Re-rate: bottle from Utobeer. I love the aroma, I love the big smile it puts on my face. But it’s a 4.4/5 and not as high as I had it before. But I do love it. I love the ginger spice and wide/deep malts. But mostly cos it makes me smile.

Bottle: Poured a deep copper color ale with a medium foamy dirty white head with pretty good retention. Aroma of sweet malt with some subtle molasses. Body is thicker them most example of the style with nice creamy texture. Taste is richer then expected with a nice dose of molasses and good malt presence. Not an overly huge beer but a quite complex example for the style.

Dark chestnut, low tanned head. Lovely honeyish and fruity aroma. Fruity tropical, wild flower tastenotes - a bit wood. Medium body, mouthfeel could be slightly fatter.

Dark brown colour with creamy off-white head. Malty aroma with hints of caramel. Some hints of smokey arome too. The flavor is malty with hints of caramel and licorice. Nice aftertaste with some hints of bitterness.

Dark amber colour. Small off-white head. Maly aroma and a little sweetness. A hint of spicies too. Flavor of caramel, malt and alcohol. Some nice malty and hoppy aftertaste.

Bottle. Deep ruby colour with thin beige head. Liquor like aroma with deep brown sugar and black treacle. Smooth in mouth though and strength doesn’t dominate too much. Perfect to watch a game of rugby with on a winter’s afternoon. Good quality with lasting dry hop treacle finish. Seems odd mix, but it works well

A deep nutty brown colour bordering on opaque. Pours thicker than a 6% beer should and it was a fight to get a whisp of head. Molassesy aroma shows faint wood, burnt cherries and sweet, lush malts. The molasses notes, sometimes leaning towards buckwheat honey, meld with a hint of chocolate and cherries. There’s an a�ejo rum character backing this up. Apparent alcohol, again stronger than 6% would indicate, provides a brawny backdrop and balances out the rich blackstrap malts.
The body is lighter than you’d expect from such a richly malty beer. This despite very low carbonation. Surely this is a classic Old Ale, in the vein of Old Peculiar but taking a cleaner, maltier (ie. Scottish) tack. For its richness, it’s surprisingly laid back. Perhaps too much so, as the flavours are great but not particularly assertive. I think it’s a mind trick - a beer this rich and you want it to be huge. So it feels thin when it’s not. Another solid effort from a great brewery.

Bottle. Dried apricot/raisin and strong hops aroma. Cloudy orangish brown color with little head. Sweet dried fruit malt flavor with moderate hops finish. Hops and alcohol flavor well balanced - neither one comes through too strongly. An easy drinking strong ale.

Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a little beige head. Spice and malt aroma. Rich stone fruit, malt, and slight spice flavor. Low carbonation. Nice simple, but full mouthfeel. Very good - if anytyhing, it could use more depth, but that’s nitpicking.
