Description
Many moons ago, in the black of the night, Viking invaders were about to attack our hometown of Stirling, when a howling wolf alerted the defenders, who saved the town. We raise a glass to that wolf. The Black Wolf.

Started brewing in January 2004 using the name City of Stirling Brewery. It was initially a sister brewery to Bridge of Allen and Trossachs Craft Brewery. During late 2005 a new company was formed to allow further investment and the brewery name was changed to just Stirling Brewery at the same time. The name then changed to Traditional Scottish Ales Ltd in 2006. The name changed once more in 2014 to its current version.

330ml bottle a present from my Aberdeen friend. Nose is sweet caramel, nutty almonds, and a hint of bubblegum. Copper brown with a medium beige head. Flavor is lightly bitter, nutty, and a hint of sweet caramel malt. If I lived in Scotland and this was available it would probably be a favorite session beer.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Amber with a thin white head; biscuity aroma; thin, sweet, and grainy in the mouth; then a dry finish. No trace of the peat that others have detected. Rather boring and basic.

Cask at Sir John Oldcastle Spoons. Clear pale brown colour lasting beige head. Its a peaty beer. Almost rubber but peaty just. I am not a big peat fan. This is subtle enough to be ok. Rest of beer is malty and fine. Ok peaty bitter
