Description
The process of brewing beer hasn’t changed much since we started back in 1777. And neither has our unique approach to crafting characterful beer. But our equipment most certainly has.
Our state-of-the-art, independent, family-owned brewery now stands proudly alongside our old brewery on the banks of the River Stour in Blandford, Dorset. Using the finest ingredients and over 240 years of expertise, our brewers create beer that brims with flavour.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear golden with a small white head. Discreet aroma of pale malts. Medium body with fairly sweet malts and fruit with lightly perfumy accents of elderflower and melon. Artificial flavouring? Very discreet bitterness in the finish. But in general a quenching summer beer. 061008

Golden colour, small white head. The aroma and flavour of elderflower is very dominant. Not my cup of tea.

Golden colour, almost no head. Aroma of caramel malts and some nuts. Flavour has caramel malts, maybe some whiskey malts. Not special. Rerate: bottle, Sainsbury’s. Aroma is a bit dusty. Flavour a bit malty. +.5

[Cash handpull at Back of Beyond, Reading] Rather tired looking gold colour with a minimal white head. As fruity as you’d expect from Badger. A vague sulphur taste which reminded me of Wells Bombadier and some tired dusty hops completed what for me was a disappointing brew. I remember being unimpressed with this in the past, so it’s not just a one-off. I don’t understand why this is the flagship Badger ale, when they make much better beers - Golden Glory and Hopping Hare are far better!

[Rate 1: 500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s Reading. RB score 8/2/8/3/15 (3.6)] Looks like a cheap lager - gold, moderate white head, and lots of visible carbonation, although the fizz is actually about right in the mouthfeel. Smells light, floral and very fresh - very tempting. Tastes initially rather too bitter and hoppy for my liking, but this quickly lifts to reveal a delicate floral and melon flavour beer. With a good balance of bitterness and sweetness, this is light and refreshing, yet tasty and intriguing; the more I drank this beer, the more I liked it. [Rate 2: Bottle - gift from Maureen & Dave - cheers! RB score 6/2/7/3/13 (3.1)] Similar to before, definitely floral but with a more citrussy overtone and a hint of piss. Again, it grew on me the more I drank, but obviously not as much as last time. OK though. Site score is the average of all ratings.

Bottle. Clear amber with decent head. Aroma of hops and malt, but with some other less pleasant notes (rubbery?). Medium body and carbonation. Fruity, floral foretase, moves through sweet malty and grainy tastes to bitter hoppy finish. A decent drink.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys. Amber with an off-white head; the aroma is of cloves, very like a weissbier, not trace of pumpkin; rather oily texture with more spice and some roasted vegetables; yet more peppery spice on the finish. Drinakable but rather boring.

Bottled. A golden beer with at hin white head. The aroma is sweet with notes skunky notes of caramel, lacks malt. The flavor is dry and sweet - the dryness stemming from lack of malt, but also with light notes of spices and elderflowers.
