Bottle at Chriso easter tasting. 04/04/2015. Thanks to Leighton for this one. Caramel brown colour pour with a lasting sticky cream coloured pour. Aroma is sweet, nutty malts, light pine cones hops, toast and roast, Flavour is composed of tart roast, burnt toast, light pine and citrus, hop, little jammy fruity hop. Palate is a medium light, highish carbonation, decent beer.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma is a balanced blend of roast and chocolate with a medium light leather and tobacco note. A hint of smoke with some light notes of plum, prune and raisin. Faint alcohol present. Pours a dark brown, not quite black, with a large, moderately thick mocha head that shows decent retention as it recedes. Medium light lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is slightly sweet, getting sweeter mid palate. Moderate chocolate notes with light roast and hints of tobacco and leather. Faint smoke. Medium light bitterness and faint alcohol notes. Light plum and prune with moderate raisin in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but noticeable alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice beer in both the aroma and flavor. Nice fruitiness that works well with the dark malt notes. Fruit esters and malt are both complex.

ChrisOs Easter Tasting. Opaque dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry, good fine carbonation. The dark malts are mildly roasty bitter. Good piney floral hops with an overtone of light citrus. Crisp light finish. Nice.

Bottle at ChrisO’s house of fun. Thanks to L-Dogg. for this CDA. It pours deep brown with a thick tan head. The nose is soft, juicy pine, varnish, earth, ashy, cocoa and dark chocolate. The taste is bitter, earthy roast, cocoa, toast, ash, charred wood, leather, varnish, dark chocolate and some citrus rind. Medium body and high carbonation. Pretty solid CDA.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy brown color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated to one big lump in the center. This lump just kinda settles down really slowly. A light speckled lacing graces the sides of the glass.
The smell had a decent bitter harsh citrus to spicy hops over coating a fairly decent rich nutty maltiness.
The taste copied the smell to balance between the bitterness and the spice to the nutty maltiness. There wasn’t any aftertaste but it did have an ample nutty dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed appropriate for the style and for me. A nice level of bitterness and combined nuttiness hit my tongue nicely.
Overall, yeah, I dig this one as an American Brown Ale, definitely worthy for its style to have again.

Bottle - Bit of booze, barrel and some light acidic berry notes. Deep brown with a rich light brown head. Soured malts, light soured berry notes and more barrel. Not bad.

Dark orange, resin hops, long mildly bitter finish. Decent but not memorable.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is roasted, sugary, chocolate, taste is similar, sweet.
