0.33 l bottle from Vrutak, Zagreb. Shared with PBF pivica. Clear golden, small off-white head. Ginger juice, gingerbread, sugary aroma. Spices. Not too perfumy. Drinkable. Spicy, not too sweet. Quite natural ginger flavour. Light body, moderate carbonation, light finish.

Old rate discovered when I was trying to work out why my spreadsheet total didn’t match up with RB. Gift from the Outlaws (cheers!), drunk 26/12/2019. Gold-coloured and fizzy. Warming ginger, very sweet. Nothing else – it’s very one-dimensional. The sweetness is a bit much by the end, feels like it’s dissolving your teeth. It’s not great, but I do like ginger so may have rated it higher than it really deserves!

500ml bottle from Sainsbury's Darlington. Gluten Free. Golden amber colour, fizzy bubbly white foam head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of ginger. Taste is sweet, ginger, sugary, tangy & spiced, warming. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry & sweet ginger ale finish. Kind of OK.

The brew has a strong ginger nose as soon as I popped the cap. The pour shows a bright gold, like a ginger ale soda, but with a head that sticks together for a while, suggesting the presence of beer proteins. Taste is sharp with fresh ginger, familiar to anyone who’s had a fancy ginger ale. There also seems to be some citrus and maybe a few other botanicals, like grains of paradise, that would also be at home in a gin. Alcohol is subdued. To me, it’s a bit overly sweet. Anything that might be a good mixer ought to stay on the dry side and let other ingredients add some sweetness.
