Bottle. Nose of chocolate, licorice, a bit spicy, lightly phenolic. Not as sweet as expected, with spices and chocolate, dry cocoa, earthy hops, some minerals. Alcohol is well hidden. Light body. Very original and nice.

Bottle shared at Sander’s place in NYC during an evening of heavy drinking. Pours clear, rich gold with a huge, white foam head. Nose of tangy, lightly toasted bread. Medium sweet flavor with lots of brown sugar, light caramel. Light to medium bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Mild dryness on the finish with lots of toasted malts, some further brown sugar, faint caramel. Extremely so so.

Bottle with no indicated freshness date and a high fill line. Pours with a lightly hazed (unfiltered/bottle conditioned) golden yellow hued body with a large, fluffy and decently retentive white head. Lace is average. Aromas of hops. Lemony, grassy, light lime, a touch of mint and thai basil. Floral. Fresh and raw, inviting, sweet malt character. Clean fermentation wise. Very grassy, light resin. Flavors are of lemon, lemon verbena, grainy (almost wheat like malt presence). Lots of citrus zest, light tea and mango. Lightly grassy hop. Good balance. Lightly bitter balance, very clean bitterness! No esters. Lively carbonation. Dry, clean, somewhat crisp. Light bodied. Good beer.

Pours rich amber with a large head.Nose shows fruity confectionary, peaches, green apples, grapes, lychees. Underneath is sweet caramel and crystal malt.Similarly tasty flavours, with more fruity and resinous hops, caramel and cookie dough-like malt, and finishing with an assertive but well matched bitterness.Could use a bit more carbonation.

Bottle. Amber with a puffy off-white head. Aroma of lychees, gooseberries, grapefruit, passionfruit flowers. Taste has caramel and light biscuit, very NZ tropical fruits leading to a grapefruity bitter finish. Sometimes these Kiwi hops can be a bit overbearing, but - whilst hoppy - this is very nice.

Binny’s LP 330ml ($5): Purchased this as Golden Ale, but it said Ardennes elsewhere on the bottle, so I figured it is the same thing. Pour is nice. Slightly hazy body with a nice solid white head. Aroma is overflowing with fruitiness and Belgian yeast. Taste is really, really Belgian. Pretty sweet. Kind of coats your mouth a wee bit. A nice subtle hoppiness underlies this whole thing. Something is a tad off, but this is still pretty good. First beer from NZ for me.
