Can direct from the brewery. It pours darkest brown to black, black with a small khaki head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, charred, umami, liquorice allsorts, whisky soaked oak, dried fruits, plum wine, nuttiness, vanilla, touch of toasty coconut, bounty bar, toffee crisp, chocolate, rocky road and some alcohol. The taste is dry, dark roasted malt, bitter - sweet, warming, boozey, toothy, chewy, spicy vibes, whisky soaked oak, dried fruits, plum, date, nuttiness, slightly jammy, toasted fruit cake, cacao nibs, dark chocolate, umami, burnt toast and liquorice with a super dry, dark roasted finish. Medium+ body and average carbonation. Nice depth and interesting character to it. Some people will probably complain that it isn't super heavy, but it works for me. Fun.

Can direct from WD. It pours ever so slightly hazy deep copper - amber with a small bubbly white head. The aroma is lovely... rich and unctuous, oily, heady notes of whisky, dried fruits, berry, orange marmalade, vanilla, baked goods, fruit pie, marzipan, toffifee and fruit cake. The taste is firmly dry, bitter - sweet, toothy, chewy, warming booze, tannin, dry oak, leathery, dried orange peel, kumquat, marmalade, fragrant, floral, spicy, fruit cake, marzipan, whisky soaked oak, nutty, varnished oak, dried berry and hint of smokey charred wood with a drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not a big heavy barley wine at all, more classical. Lovely whisky character. Nice one.
