Description
In August of 2005, the first jack hammer went into the ground in the empty warehouse in Pleasantville, New York, that was to become the living dream of our founder Scott Vaccaro. We brewed our first batch of beer in December of 2005. In December of 2011 we moved to Elmsford, finished construction of our new brewery, brewed our first batch of beer, and slowly shut down our old location. In 2014 we decided that it was time, after 9 years of making sour and wild ales, to take it to the next level by opening our new sour ale production wing, lovingly dubbed the “Fermento Funk Facility”.

Super hazy, fully opaque straw and golden coloured body with a pretty thick, four to five centiemtre tall off-white head that fades pretty quickly and leaves a thin lace up top. Aroma of light tropical notes with guava, passionfruit, oranges and some grassy, hay notes that show fairly strong in the nose. Medium-bodied; Pretty rich malt notes show at first with a good balance of strong, grassy hops with a lot of alpha acid bitterness that ends with some soft but noticeable sugars from fruits. Aftertaste is clean, fairly balanced and showing some alcohol - probably around the 8 per cent here, but some good unfiltered haze and solid hop bitterness that usually isn't as strong in the newer school IPA types. Overall, a nice beer that has a crisp, dry bite with some floral, grassy and tropically notes that's balanced nicely, has a moderate complexity, yet is easy-drinking. Nice to sample super fresh before heading off to Canada in search of good beer in British Columbia! I sampled this sixteen ounce can, purchased from Wegman's [grocery] in Lake Manassas (Gainesville), Virginia on 19-June-2022 for US$2,33 (as part of a mixed six pack), canned on 19-April-2022 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 28-June-2022.

Pint can from Beer Run, 8/28/23. Clear gold, large white head, good retention. Aroma of tart orange, pale malt, chlorine. Taste is orange, pale malt. Crisp, moderate bitterness. Thankfully that chlorine doesn't follow through into the taste.

(Bottle, vintage 2017) Golden colour, slightly hazy, with brief foamy white head. Fruity, sourish nose with lemon, grapefruit, grapes, oak wood, funk, white wine, flowers and a touch of vinegar. Fruity, tart taste with citrus, grapefruit, white wine, grapes, spices, oak wood, barnyard and a dry and tart finish with low bitterness. Almost full body, dry. Fresh and lively, with a generous, but elegant, acidity. Excellent beer!
