Description
Generation.

On tap at Brauerei Spezial Bamberg. Hazy orange/golden coloured, medium sized white head, mild wheaty yeasty nose. Sweetish malty, light wheaty and yeasty, notes of spices and touch of banana in the finish.

Bottle devoured at home. Dark amber with white head. Dude, I’ve got this, it’s a hollistic thing. It all connects. Sweet malts, soft caramel fudge, pigs grease, bacon, burnt toast, dairy cream butter, cozy fireplaces, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside bbq meat, favourite wooden furniture, resin of the beechwood, actual beechwood, with on top the exact right amount of honey, bonfires, fingers after rolling tobacco cigarettes, thinking you’re not in love while you already are, comfy and doable hungover lazy sundays in spicy smelling pyjamas not a single fuhuck to be given, finding yesterdays pizza leftovers in the fridge, opening a fresh bottle of tobasco sauce, in a house with a lot of plants, and amazing natural lighting, massive wood, very piney, cute baby animals at the petting zoo, feeling confident about the quality of potting soil, Nick Cave in the mid 90’s, the wind in the pussywillow, pumpkin with goatcheese out of the oven, McCauley Culkin’s face in Home Alone, Indiana Jones without the unnecessary sequels, deep sniffing the greasy fur of a generously friendly forest bear’s neck while slowdancing through a late summer meadow, being friends with the blacksmith in Lure of the Temptress, acting like it’s chill while forever stuck in a Jheronimous Bosch painting, shit working out better between Buscemi and Sevigny, ALIBALI and James Baxter being one and the same creature, chilling by the campfire besides a battling dwarf, amazone chick and barbarian, 16-bit 256 color palette pixelart boner in general, smelling the leather satchel with amber colored gems the natives gave ya, Crumb drawing strong chicks’ asses, Riefenstahl as a typographer, casual christmas tree, essence of natural habitat, opening a box of ice skates from the attic, pure essence of attic, fur coat fossilised in amber stone, first chestnuts of the season, in a fantasy world on the back of a giant and ancient seaturtle, with a lot of seapocks. Moderate sweet and bitter, umami the right way. Over medium body and soft carbonation. Greasy and good. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Spezial Rauchbier Märzen on 15 Nov 2018 at 17:53 - Score: 8

10th Sep 2018, draft at the brewery. This unfiltered pils is a lovely drink, hazy golden yellow body, decent sized white crown. The nose is yeasty, grassy and malty, taste also has the same three parts with the malts playing the most dominant part before the grassy hops kick in towards the end of each sip.

3 August 2018. At Spezial, Bamberg. Cheers to Anke!
Pours clear copper with a thin, foamy, off-white head; little lacing. Aroma of smoked ham & sausage, charcoal, sweet tobacco, wood, toast, salted peanut. It tastes medium malty sweet, quite smoky & meaty, hint of umami sausage & ham, a bit bready; light herbal bitter with sourish yeast in the back. Smoky finish, a bit grassy hoppy with lingering bread & yeast. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Perhaps a tad less elegant than the Schlenkerla.

Pours hazy ochre with a thin, frothy, off-white head; lots of lacing. Aroma of brown bread, yeast, butter, dough, caramel, ripe fruits, smoked ham, herbs, some wort. It tastes light malty sweet, bready, a bit fruity, and light herbal bitter with a sourish, yeasty, perhaps elderberry-like back. Dry, grainy & yeasty finish, faintly hoppy. Light body, watery texture, fizzy carbonation. Plain good Keller.
