Description

Generation.

Beer No. 109 on my tour through Austria, Germany and Denmark.
Draught at the brewpub. Dark golden coloured, small to medium sized off-white head, smoked cheese in the nose. Moderate malty and pleasant hoppy with nice smoked notes and hint of caramel. Very nice and enjoyable rauchbier.

Fin balans.

On tap at Zum Franziskaner. Pours a dark amber with large off white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is pepper, beef jerky, and smoke. Thin mouthfeel, light smoke, wood, crushable, very nice.

Tapped: Clear, golden to amber coloured, stable and lacy off-white head; caramelly ,sweet-malty and woody-smoky aromas in the nose, hops, too; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, soft; lingering dryish hoppy and sweetish smoky-malty finish. Devilishly moreish stuff

Bottled 500ml (ABV 6.7%, BB 05/2011)
Thanks Bierkoning! Deep nut brown color, good cloudy beige head. Aroma has smoke, barley grains, paper and caramel, maybe a bit berryish too. Front is sweetish caramel malty. Then lingering smokeyness, some alcohol and light hoppyness. Smoother and less smokey than Schlenkerlas, but pleasant and stylish rauchbock.
